Just received my APAP (Sept) - newly diagnosed (August)
Okay, so I have had my ResMed 10 with Amara View mask since Thursday. (my profile & signature should list my equipment) I have not been able to sleep through a whole night. The first night was best (almost 5 hours) , the next night (3 hours), and finally last night (1.5 hours). What I noticed that m...

Re: Had a sleep study at a sleep lab. Now Questions.
Just to help you narrow it down: The 2 most recommended brands are Resmed and Phillips Respironics. Their newest models are: Resmed Airsense 10 Autoset Phillips Respironics Dreamstation Auto. I'd start looking at these 2. I'd call the sleep center and ask which machine they have ordered for you (ma...

Re: Had a sleep study at a sleep lab. Now Questions.
I will have a CPAP machine and I will receive training on it. I do not know which model/brand, etc. you owe it to yourself to educate yourself on the types of machines, look up whatever they offer you on this page: https://sleep.tnet.com/equipment/cpapmachines and refuse it if the listing for it sa...

Re: Had a sleep study at a sleep lab. Now Questions.
Does the study say what your AHI is? No. After, re-reading, It was the lab tech notes. The EKG read normal (which I thought was great ) but other than that no numbers. UPDATE: my AHI number is 25.3 , found out today. I will have a CPAP machine and I will receive training on it. I do not know which ...

Re: Had a sleep study at a sleep lab. Now Questions.
Hi TalonGreyWolf , The Greeks say apnoia - breathless. The English say apnoea - a cessation of breath, especially during sleep. Americans say apnea - meaning the same thing. There's a tendency in medicine and other specialisms to use two words where one would do - they say it's to remove all ambigu...

Re: Had a sleep study at a sleep lab. Now Questions.
Hypopneas are wannabe apneas - your airway doesn't close completely with them, but they can still be very problematic. I suggest that if you sleep on your back, possibly with your mouth open as a result, try sleeping on your side, maybe with pillows in back to keep you there most of the night, and ...

Re: Had a sleep study at a sleep lab. Now Questions.
Hypopnea is semi-obstructive, as opposed to obstructive sleep apnea. Usually the effects are just about as bad as obstructive, and generally treated the same. Not that unusual. Like Cardsfan says, the AHI is the important number. Thank you. every little bit of information helps. I wish I did have t...
