Re: Resmed N30i Cushion change in Material?
Before giving up on the new flexible N30i design, try adjusting the head strap tighter. That worked for me. (But I've only used it 3 days so far.) Strangely, with the tighter strap the portion of the mask just above the cushion pressed more tightly against my cheek than I've experienced with any mas...

Re: Machine Noise
That sounds terrible. I'd demand a replacement under warranty.

Re: Machine Noise
I got a new ResMed A10 3 months ago, exchanged it because it was noisy, and got one that was less noisy but still noisier than my first machine of the same model 2 years ago. The noise is a a low-pitched hum that occurs when I'm NOT inhaling. I discovered I could greatly reduce the noise by starting...

Re: First I've heard of it: Resmed N30i
There is no law against copying the functional features of a product. The law prohibits copying patented inventions, not products. A product is infringing if it falls within the scope of the "Claims" in the granted patent. The patent owner doesn’t even have to make or sell any products. (There are d...

Re: First I've heard of it: Resmed N30i
I just did a quick search for Philips or Respironics patent applications that might cover the Dreamwear. Surprisingly, I could not find any. Interestingly, ResMed's US patent application publication US20080047560 describes many alternative designs, a few of which look somewhat similar to the Dreamwe...

Surprisingly, a lot of advice on the internet is wrong.chunkyfrog wrote: ↑Wed Oct 31, 2018 10:49 amOnly 15% variation is needed to skirt infringement---from what I hear . . .

Re: Machine Noise
My ResMed A10 machine is silent while I inhale, but makes a constant hum while I exhale and during the quiescent period between exhale and inhale. Exhaust pressure relief is set to 2. Has anyone else experienced a hum during exhale rather than inhale? If this is abnormal I'll ask the DME to replace ...

Re: Bruxism and sleep apneia
But you didn't just report your experience, you stated that MOST users habituate..... And that's just not true. Do you want things sugar coated like a child or what? I 'reported' from being on the forum a long time and seeing hundreds of people struggle with mouth breathing... and only a very few l...

Re: Bruxism and sleep apneia
Mouth breathing is at worse when in deep sleep, you are not aware of it then, I smell B.S. Maybe those other forums won't call you on the spreading but here we will, don't trample our Flowers! Jim I would see a high leak rate in the Sleepyhead report if I opened my mouth enough to create an apertur...

Re: Bruxism and sleep apneia
Never heard such nonsense in my life! I merely reported my experience. Do you speak from experience or conjecture? Would you like to explain your reasoning and the facts upon which it is based instead of a quick insult that merely states a conclusion? Incidentally, I don’t know what other forums yo...

Re: Bruxism and sleep apneia
How would wearing a nasal mask train anyone to keep their mouth closed? If you open your mouth while wearing a nasal mask, all the air is pumped through your mouth, which is forceful and uncomfortable enough that most users intuitively habituate to keeping their mouths closed. When I started CPAP, ...

Re: Respironics DreamWear Gel Nasal pillow mask review thread
I'd appreciate hearing whether users who find the P10 irritates their nostrils get less irritation from the Dreamwear Gel. I've been alternating between the P10, which does irritate my nostrils, and the original Dreamwear, which I have trouble breathing through when my allergies are worse than avera...

Re: How to interpret oximeter reading?
I bought a CMS 50i and was surprised that it showed no drop in O2 during CA events. I wonder whether fingertip sensors are inherently not sensitive enough. Because your heart is a lot farther from your fingertip than your brain, it seems plausible that an apnea event significant enough to affect O2 ...

I think moisture in the exhaust hole is one of the causes of whistling.
I wonder whether carefully enlarging the hole a tiny bit would help. (Enlarging it too much would cause too much leakage and reduce the air pressure.)

Re: Mask airfit p10 re nose
I recommend applying hydrocortisone ointment on the irritated area during the day to promote healing and reduce inflammation. (I'm surprised I haven’t seen this recommendation here.)
That can be in addition to, or instead of, applying any of the ointments recommended above during sleep.
