Re: Stop breathing as I'm nodding off...
So I've dug out my CPAP, so now you know what variety of machine and mask I have. I thought I just hadn't installed the software to review the data, but it looks like it was because the only software I can find is designed just to upload to my doc, not review myself. Any idea what sort of software w...

Re: Stop breathing as I'm nodding off...
Looked up hypnic jerks, and I've had them without the CPAP; in those instances it felt like I was in freefall for a moment, and that would cause me to have a "jerk" like one does when they tip their chair out of balance; I always thought that's why it was called FALLING asleep. I've never installed ...

Re: Stop breathing as I'm nodding off...
Thanks for the supportive comments; anxiety and depression are still part of my life, but they no longer rules my life. It took me a long time to recover from my crisis, and for the last four years my job has been to offer support to people with mental illness and be part of the medical team and sor...

Re: Stop breathing as I'm nodding off...
Not sure if it's panic, but when I stop breathing it certainly does result in a panic like jolt. I have a diagnosed anxiety disorder with "Panic features", but if what I'm experiencing with the CPAP is panic, it's different than what I've experienced with non-cpap panic attacks. (note; I have progre...

Re: SSRIs and apnea
Prozac is a very old medication; there may be a different SSRI that doesn't have the same impact on your REM sleep, or there may be a different class of antidepressant (there are varieties that act on different neurotransmitters). In the end, though, it's about results, right? Do you feel you get be...

Re: Stop breathing as I'm nodding off...
I'm posting from work, so I'll have to post later with the make and model. With the face mask, the leak issues would happen before I'd get as close to sleep as I would when I'd experience the breathing issue with the nasal pillow. And no, it's not something that happens when I sleep without the CPAP.

Stop breathing as I'm nodding off...
Hi, First post, I was diagnosed with a form of sleep apnea a couple years ago, and was prescribed a CPAP machine, using nasal pillows. At first, after an adjustment period, it seemed to be going quite well. Then, for some unknown reason, I'd find myself suddenly stopping my breathing just as I'm dri...
