Re: Cleaning this monstrosity
Woah there. I have no issue with cleaning the machine. My problem is I feel clueless and lost doing it and I'm given very conflicting advice from each source I have. My BF is convinced the tube gets gunk in it. I've tried to tell him from cleaning the tank I've never seen any sort of gunk, but he is...

Cleaning this monstrosity
Bear with me. I clean my boyfriend's cpap machine. I presume the specs are still in my signature. Upon getting the machine I dutifully nodded and soaked in all the information on cleaning it and vowed to do it in a timely manner. Then I read forums and other user feedback, and realized a sizable por...

How do I disconnect the mask and tube?
I feel like an idiot and I'm afraid of damaging something by tugging at inseparable things. I know how to take the nasal pillows off and a snap for the headgear... but isn't there still more tubing that is part of the mask? How do I get the whole thing off? I am wanting to clean the tube.

Re: Whats the treatment if CPAP machine does nothing?
What did they say your AHI score (apneas per hour) at the study? What kind of apneas?

Re: How does one get consistent results?
Okay guys. An update. His AHI has never been better (0-2). I definitely see a correlation with alcohol too close to bed, so that is being minimized. However, there was a more significant change that seems to have improved results. He no longer uses the chin strap. Without the chin strap he had one n...

Re: Losing weight & its effect on sleep apnea
with a low starting pressure like that it will not suppress any events and takes longer to get up to a pressure that will suppress anything. i am surprised you can breath as 4cm most people are short of breath at 4 not only will it take less time to get to a working pressure for you but you should ...

Re: How does one get consistent results?
well I'm not very happy with today's results. AHI of 5.47. All kinds of different apneas, worst being obstructive (index 2.47). He did have some (non hard) alcohol with dinner. There are just so many different variables to this. I wish the program had a way to flag external factors such as alcohol c...

Re: How does one get consistent results?
First night with new minimum pressure setting. This time the data shows a lot of "vibratory snores" and the pressure hitting max during this time. As far as I recall this is the first time his pressure has gone up that high. What does that mean, that the pressure was working because there were no ap...

Re: How does one get consistent results?
Or, you sleep so well you don't notice. Haha maybe! I actually slept worse at first because my brain was so used to no noise meaning no breathing. I was always on the alert and slept way better when I heard him snoring or making noises, because I knew it meant he was still breathing. I'm doing bett...

Re: How does one get consistent results?
I've set his minimum from 8 to 9 as suggested. But, uhm, will his doctor be notified that a setting such as this was altered? I just now realized this. Has he mentioned the CPAP exhalation relief? His pressure is mostly under 10.0, and he may not need exhalation relief. If it were me, as a first ste...

Re: How does one get consistent results?
Sleepyhead Data Here Yes, he has told me he feels like things were worse when I inform him his AHI was high. But I cannot tell you if this is a biased analysis because I told him it was bad that day. Same when it is low, he tells me he can tell it was better sleep. From now on I will ask him to eva...

How does one get consistent results?
Note, I'm not the one using the machine. He got his lowest AHI yet (using the machine 8th time, now 9th) at 1.40. Today his machine display read an AHI of 7.6. However when I analyzed with Sleepyhead the AHI reads 5.10. This is the first time there has been a conflict in reports. He did nap earlier ...

Re: How long till you started noticing a difference?
I do notice a huge difference today, but the inverse: with my CPAP of 8 or 10 cm H2O and a history of 3 month usage, this morning I sleep 30 min (from 06:00 til 06:30) WITHOUT CPAP. Oh my god, I want to cry for my former self when I did not know I have OSA. For what it is worth, I had no trouble un...

Re: Mouth Breathing
Thank you so much for looking at the reports and commenting. I'm glad everything seems normal, it is very reassuring to have experienced people look at the data. Last night his AHI was 3.2. I hope over time this number will be below 2 consistently. In a couple days we will not be home and so we are ...
