The whine is only a problem when the humidifier is detached and the hose is connected directly to the main unit. The whine appears to be conducted through the hose to the mask, and sounds like it is close to my ears, and it rises and falls in pitch with my breathing: eeeeeeeeee-yewwwwww-eeeeeee-yeww...

Cases to fit RemStar without humidifier

Whine, using PR DreamStation without humidifier
To save space, I used to travel with my RemStar without the humidifier, and it worked fine. My new DreamStation seems designed the same way, but when I connect the hose directly to the main unit, without the humidifier, I hear a fairly loud annoying whine that goes up and down in pitch as I breathe....

My recollection is that I noticed a difference almost immediately, and that my morning diastolic blood pressure reading dropped 15 mm almost immediately and stayed low. I can't say that I sleep perfectly, but the big change is that I started to have long, complex, memorable dreams--and my wife start...

My DME provider gave me its own set of printed directions on using my CPAP machine, and they say that the tube (hose) should be cleaned weekly. However, the printed instruction book from the manufacturer (Philips Respironics DreamStation) says that it should be cleaned daily. This is a new machine, ...
