Re: Good Apps that Track Snoring
DeNile? Nope, I stopped using CPAP based on doctor's recommendations. It was not against medical advice.

Re: Good Apps that Track Snoring
MizLizzie, will try cutting out the other noises. Of course, can't cut out my dog and two cats and my husband who wakes up before me I do have a problem. My husband hears me snore, which is what lead me to having the initial sleep study that detected mild sleep apnea, AHI 13. I also sometimes even w...

Re: Good Apps that Track Snoring
Thanks everyone. Palerider, I located SnoreClock on my iPhone apps, but it has no reviews, or free trial. Maybe it's worth $4 to try it out. Will try to hunt down more info on it. Have you used it much? I've actually been trying the free version of SnoreLab, and it has for four separate nights only ...

Good Apps that Track Snoring
Can you recommend an app that tracks snoring? I'm currently using an oral appliance for mild sleep apnea without CPAP and need to know how much I'm snoring. Asking the husband isn't that reliable. I'd like to be more scientific about it. Might do a home sleep study at some point while wearing the ap...

Re: F&P Pilairo Q Nasal Pillow -Switched to DreamWear
Droder, not sure I tried the small frame. I do have the medium one now. They won't let me exchange it, so I'd have to pay for it myself or wait for insurance to cover another one in a few months. I can always try on a small though, just in case. Jay, I think I got rid of the water and tried on the A...

Re: OSA and Cancer Link
Chunky frog, yeah, she's a little nutz! Maybe she won't fixate on this. When she gets something in her head, she's like a cat. Arlene, wild study! It's kind of like high cholesterol also having a protective benefit against cancer. My family is a little sensitive to the whole cancer thing, so that mi...

Re: F&P Pilairo Q Nasal Pillow -Switched to DreamWear
Thanks Jay. Will try. I washed the mask before vacation so it's been drying a long time! It should not have been wet inside, and I didn't wash the main hose. But maybe it still had water somehow.

OSA and Cancer Link
My mother, who is most certainly NOT a doctor, called me yesterday, on my first day back from vacation, to tell me I should stop using my CPAP because she thinks it could give me cancer. What?! Her reasoning is that my uncle (not blood-related) has aggressive brain cancer that is not responding to t...

Re: F&P Pilairo Q Nasal Pillow -Switched to DreamWear
I tried the AirFit P10 tonight for exactly 10 seconds. Something was very wrong. I heard popping noises immediately and then water started shooting out of the nasal mask! Remember, this was a used mask and this is the first time I've tried it. There was a lot of water in the hose. I had some water i...

Re: F&P Pilairo Q Nasal Pillow -Switched to DreamWear
Thanks everyone. The ResMed was still drying last night, so I guess I'm trying it tonight. I had to take the strap off to wash it well since it was used. Maybe I can get over my germ freakiness. I may well have to watch the video to get it back on. Did I mention I messed up a nail getting it off? Ju...

Re: Study Comparing CPAP and Oral Appliances
Elidh, I asked my dentist about the snore guard before I was diagnosed and he told me it was illegal to make one for me unless I ruled out OSA first. Maybe I misunderstood him, but he refused it unless I had a sleep study first. I didn't do the sleep study then. I waited until another doctor also re...

Re: Study Comparing CPAP and Oral Appliances
Greyhound, what did you not like about it? I happen to have a dental cleaning appointment tomorrow, so I'm going to try to get a look at one if they have a model to show me. If I do try an appliance, it's unlikely I'll go through the dentist since they don't file insurance.

Re: F&P Pilairo Q Nasal Pillow -Switched to DreamWear
Pugsy, yeah it IS difficult to remove from the frame. I broke a nail doing it. Your response has me wondering whether a different person at the same place might allow me to swap it. I wonder what they'd do if I just returned the whole thing to them and said I'm going with a different DME. Did I ment...

Re: Study Comparing CPAP and Oral Appliances
Wuff, my search didn't reveal those I guess. Maybe I need a different search term. It's interesting that some people need both. I'm wondering if I have the option to get an oral appliance and still keep the cpap. My insurance was vague on that, and the ENT who would be making the oral appliance said...

Study Comparing CPAP and Oral Appliances
This study was published recently in Journal of Dental Sleep Medicine. http://www.jdsm.org/ViewArticle.aspx?pid=30229 Volume: 03 Number: 03 7/10/2016 The interesting thing to me was that while CPAP did a better job at lowering AHI, the health outcome was not improved compared to oral appliances. The...
