Re: New machine: Philips Respironics A40
Interesting. It's worrying when I have more confidence in the "shop floor" opinion on CPAP talk than I do in the "specialist" medical staff. Bottom line: could the A40 be doing more harm than the old C Series machine - if indeed either is/was having a negative impact? i.e. is the A40's overkill goin...

Re: New machine: Philips Respironics A40
Thankyou for all the feedback. I definitely don't have a lung issue that requires ventilation. I am going to phone the hospital on Monday and ask why I didn't get an ASV. I am pretty sure I understood what Mr Respiromnics said. I am just going to have to use powers of persuasion on the sleep doc as ...

Re: New machine: Philips Respironics A40
Hi Wulfman , I don't call that 'being suckered'. I call it 'going above and beyond'. :) Putting it like that, I feel rather privileged :) They did spend a lot of time with me yesterday setting the machine up and going through my data download with a fine tooth comb, tweaking settings etc. That was ...

Re: New machine: Philips Respironics A40
Doesn't look old to me for that type of machine. Service manual is dated 2015. I seriously doubt that Sleepyhead would work with it. But, you never know until you try. Your idea was correct, Den - as soon as I tried to import last night's data from the SD card SH displayed a message saying that it ...

New machine: Philips Respironics A40
Today I was expecting to get an ASV machine but instead was fitted up with an A40. An employee of Respironics was there with the sleep nurse and they spent an hour fitting me up, optimising the settings (I hope). AVAPS instead of ASV. The PR guy explained why he felt it was a better bet for me than ...

Reaspironics Dreamwear Full Face mask causing apneas?
I have tried the Dreamwear full face mask a couple of times and really want it to work. However, both nights I have tried it I have awoken after a couple of hours having had an obviously really nad apnea ( the type I only used to get re-CPAP). I can only speculate why this is. Maybe the mask moved a...

Re: Respiromics Dreamwear Mask full face - opinions?
Having given the Dreamwear full face mask a bit more of a trial, I woke last time after a couple of hours' sleep and had obviously had a bid apnea or bad apneas as I was severely out of breath. Quite why that is I can only guess at. I rarely if ever has happened with the other two maks I ave used re...

Re: Patient triggered breaths - do these stats suggest I need ASV?
Thanks for all the input there. For the sake of anyone following this thread I should add that I have the co-existing sleep disorder PLMD and am in benzo withdrawal (prescribed for the PLMD, to no avail). The w/d is protracted and has sent my AHI skyrocketing. Going rogue on the NHS is not so easy. ...

Re: Patient triggered breaths - do these stats suggest I need ASV?
It is unclear if OP has anything special going on to cause him to need ventilation on an each and every breath situation. I do not have any special requirements medically that demands 10 or 11 PS. It is just bog standard procedure in that clinic, which mainly treats COPD. Typical NHS, unwieldy, one...

Re: Patient triggered breaths - do these stats suggest I need ASV?
I do wish we could disallow people who make threads and then abandon them...see it time and time again here. Thank you for the replies. The stats that Pugusy posted (for which, thankyou also) were from when the pressures were at their highest. I have not abandoned the thread. I was in bed all day a...

Patient triggered breaths - do these stats suggest I need ASV?
I have an appointment with the sleep doc tomorrow. It has bee suggested by several people that I need ASV to treat my centrals as it is breathing for me. But if you look at the Patient Triggered Breaths Section in the image below, there was a sudden plummet from invariably being 100 per cent to as l...

Re: Tomorrow starts no caffeine day 1 - wish me luck
Good luck with quitting caffeine. I am sure you will feel the benefits if you can stick it out. I know I use too much some days and would be better off without it. I often feel there is no other way to get through, however. I drink a lot of Barley Cup from the health food store - it tastes quite lik...

Broadening compatibility of Sleepyhead?
I was wondering whether it would be possible to extend the compatibility of Slepyheadto machines such as mine, a Respironics BiPAP s/T C-Series? Atm for some reason it only records data before midnight on any given date. Is there any chance of the SH developers tweaking this so that it is fully coma...

How to analyse data with Encore Basic
I now have an old laptop with Windows 10 on it. I have downloaded and installed Encore Basic and added myself as a patient, and downloaded data from the card. The question is, how do I now get to view the data? The programme is much more, well...basic... than Encore Pro. I just do not see any option...
