Re: Feeling hot at night

I have not talked to a doctor about it yet. As for premenopausal, I am a guy :)

Being winter here I wonder whether ambient temperature is a factor but I will experiment with cooler nightwear. I am in bdenzo wothdr\awal so wonder whether that is part of it.

Feeling hot at night

Some nights when my sleep is especially bad I find I get pretty hot at night. I think we can rule out Covid as the cause as it has been going on, quite randomly, for months and I have no other symptoms and have had several negative tests. I think it is more likely my body's attempt to regulate the e...

Re: Is Soft Surgical Collar (SSC) helping?

Aha, thankyou both.

The clinic told me not to tape my mouth - but I ave heard of many that do.

The IPAP pressure has gone up by 1 cm so to 18-10 and think I need to tackle leaks before raising it futther, but I agree, I probably need more pressure.

Is Soft Surgical Collar (SSC) helping?

I have started using a Soft Surgical collar (SSC) owing to the suspicion that clusters of OSAs in my OSCAR charts were pointing towards tune tucking. I've been using the SSC for a couple of weeks now. I'd be interested in your opinions on whether, on the limited evidence of a screenshot from before ...

Re: Covid-19, CPAP cleaning regimen

I am making sure I clean hose and mask extra long each day.

As for our extra mortality risk (if any) as apnoea sufferers/xPAP users, with a virus that attacks the respiratory system, anyone got a view on that?

Sorry for not replying sooner. The hospital just grabbed it back. Back on BiPAP.

Re: First nigh on new machine - not good - worth persevering

Thankyou, very useful suggestions. :) I wanted ASV but the sleep nurse and the guy from Respironics who did the titration insisted I needed AVAPS. Consensus on the forum was that it was massive overkill. I think only if they feel this has not worked might they then try me on ASV. I am actually going...

Re: First nigh on new machine - not good - worth persevering

As others have said, trying any new machine may result in some rocky nights at first. Could you tell us why they switched you from the regular BiPap to the A40? It is really an attempt to get my AHI back below 5 and treat my complex sleep apnoea and indeed complex sleep problems that also include P...

First nigh on new machine - not good - worth persevering

After a very long delay, I finally got to try out my Philips Respironics A40 machine for the first time last night. It didn't go well. Ice woke after about four hours' sleep feeling terrible, that I had had very light and fragmented sleep and had also had bad nightmares. I swapped over to my trusted...

Re: Sourcing Respironics Comfort Gel nasal mask- Medium

Pugsy is correct… It's not so simple. As the online form wouldn't accommodate overseas shipping, I phoned them. They told me they will only ship Respironics and Rsmed products to one country outside the USA, i.e. Canada. Meanwhile the search algorithms must be different here because my searches turn...

Sourcing Respironics Comfort Gel nasal mask- Medium

I have done several online searches but cannot find a supplier of the Respironics Comfort Gel nasal mask (Medium) anywhere. I appreciate it is now discontinued but would like to get a spare mask anyway. Does anyone happen to know where a stash exists that I could buy one from. I do know that Small i...

Re: Disabling fatigue--have you ever been this down?

Some days my fatigue levels are not much better than you describe. It's hideous and I can only offer my sympathy. The dragging exhaustion, the blank mind...it also seems worse in the long dark evenings and cold weather. I can relate. I lay down this pm to sleep and relax and honestly felt I might no...

Re: How long does it take you to adjust to new mask?

Interesting, Sheriff. As you say it could be my anxiety about and resistance to the new mask that was a factor. One problem for me (and, I suspect, many others) is that any major change (mask, machine) can inevitably result in poor nights' sleep. It can be hard to "budget" for this and know that you...
