Re: A Diet for Poor Sleep and Sleep Apnea
Ignore all the packaged gluten free processed junk in the grocery store. It's got too much salt and sugar to make up for the missing gluten. Instead, take a look at the Paleo diet. It's just meat, fish, vegetables and fruit, eggs, olives (organic food if you can afford it). Some people include dairy...

Re: A Diet for Poor Sleep and Sleep Apnea
I have searched the internet and come across endless comments from people who said the paleo diet or gluten free diet has greatly improved their quality of life. Whether it's chronic pain, fatigue, or poor sleep, many feel better just giving up the refined sugar or all processed foods or dairy. I do...

A Diet for Poor Sleep and Sleep Apnea
I have struggled with insomnia and interrupted sleep for years. Have tried various remedies and cpap treatment has helped in some ways but not enough. Here's something for all poor sleepers and insomniacs to consider; [/url]http://www.cpapsupplyusa.com/blog/post/2013/09/12/sleep-apnea-and-gluten.aspx

Re: Sleep study results
I guess what I'm looking for is this...People here always say 'there's much more to a good night sleep other than AHI' to which I completely agree and its why I pushed HARD for 6+ months to get a sleep study done. I had been using a CPAP on the hunch that I had SA and was able to control my AHI to ...

Re: Should I get a sleep study ?
orthodontic treatment with tooth extractions Ouch. A dark period in orthodontics. Dentists with tunnel vision - did not see the patient as a whole - only thought of straight teeth. Being on one side for too long can make my knees ache. Do you place a pillow between your knees? This is for the purpo...

Re: Sleep study results
Hi there, Using tennis balls does not really work.
Search the internet for a belt that you can wear around your chest, that will work much better.
i.e. "Slumber Bump Belt".
Ask your sleep doctor about something like that.

Re: Should I get a sleep study ?
the tongue and throat Ahhh (Pun intended.), that is what I was getting at. The most common immediate cause of obstructive sleep apnea is collapse of the tongue, soft palate and other throat tissue. I don't think it is accurate to say "tongue obstructive apnea", unless the patient has undergone unco...

Re: Should I get a sleep study ?
I am a small person who has tongue obstruction apnea. How do you know the tongue is the cause of the obstruction? Hi ChicagoGranny, It was my sleep doctor who told me that. I've read that it's common, especially in post menopause. Due to loss of hormones, the tongue and throats loses muscle, loses ...

Re: Should I get a sleep study ?
My symptoms started out the same as yours but it was years before I was finally diagnosed with sleep apnea. I would wake up to use the bathroom after 4 hrs sleep and would not be able to get back to sleep. Sometimes I was lucky enough to get 6 hrs and felt better. Many times my sleep left me feeling...

Re: Trouble Committing to CPAP- Now What?
Would love to commit to using the machine: and I know I have to keep trying, I suppose... Isn't there any way to get surgery or find some other alternative to this? I've heard about the dental piece as well.. Yes there's an oral appliance that helps keep the airway open, also there's a tongue retai...

Re: Need response--my doctor won't help
Doctor won't help? Yeah apparently he's one of those who just doesn't know too many of the sleep apnea symptoms, the first clinic I visited was confused by it too. What you're describing is some kind of "sleep start". I had that and mine could go on and for hours too. Clonazepam helped and I still u...
