Re: 8 months and still struggling
Struggles are common but it should get better the more you use it. I guess some people take to there machines right away and others struggle a little bit. All you can do is stick with it and keep trying. It is well worth it. So how long did it take for you to get a full nights sleep and actually fe...

Re: Burning smell from CPAP - Greatly reduced
This smell is in a DreamStation CPAP. It was noticeable after potty breaks, especially when I turned on the preheat. After reading through the forum, I thoroughly cleaned the CPAP and changed the pollen filter. I especially washed the water tank. Note that none of my previous CPAPs, including the v...

Re: trying not to give up
I was allowed 2 masks and the DME was stingy with the second one. Has nothing to do with the insurance plan and everything to do with the DME being a lazy butthead. Pretty much all insurance plans will only pay for one mask until the next allowance period but all the mask manufacturers will reimbur...

Re: trying not to give up
My DME was getting very disgusted with me as I was in her office multiple times a week, returning masks and trading for new ones. I finally tried the Sleepweaver Advanced, which is a cloth mask made out of parachute material. It's very lightweight. That was my mask of choice for a couple of years. ...

Re: First night with full face mask (Quattro Air)
I have found that I still need to use a soft cervical collar with a full face mask. It keeps my mouth closed and I don't wake up with an extremely dry mouth. The soft cervical collar is on my list of things to try next after I see how I do with the full face mask. Thanks! Char; Good for you! I trie...

Re: Diagnosed UARS--Help with next steps?
C. how do people control their positions in the sleep?? I always start sleeping on my side, but rarely wake up in that position Tan, No, you can't control your sleep position but there's positional therapy. Look up; "Rematee AntiSnore Bumper". It's very comfortable and for me it stays on and keeps ...

Re: nasal pillows and zits
Hi, I've been using nasal pillows for months and have not had that problem. However, when I first started on cpap earlier this year, my DME RT told me that some people get the pimples in the nose and end up switching to a full face mask. It was the argument he used to push a ff mask on me (most like...

Re: The ways my health has improved
I average six hours a night with it. Thanks for sharing your story. Just wonder if you sleep additional time without cpap, to get more than 6 hrs? I've done that off and on but trying not to. I've been going at it for over 5 mos but haven't yet reached a full 6 hrs sleep on the machine. How long ha...

Re: 8 months and still struggling
So Im at the 8 month mark on CPAP. I am getting about 5 hours a night on average. I REALLY wish I could get 7-8, I mean wth is it going to take?? Anyway for awhile I was pretty zen with this whole thing of having a mask on my face at night but lately I am struggling to keep it on all night. I reall...

Re: AHI not zero
My AHI is generally considered "good," but I wonder if it would be advantageous if I could get it to consistently be zero. BTW, my baseline test back in BC (before CPAP) days was 52 apneas per hour! Welcome to the forum; we can better assist you if you click on "New Users" at the top of the screen ...

Re: Generic Eszopiclone Problems
Cpaptalk to the rescue again. I have not had a decent night's sleep in about a month, for no reason that I could see. I never thought to check my generic eszopiclone (although I've had similar issues with other drugs for other conditions.) I've been taking a generic made by Glen Mark, according to ...

Re: They Tell Me I Need This Machine
I guess it's just a good thing that I never agreed to electroconvulsive therapy. I might be really irate. Hi There; Even though some here are making a good attempt to help you, this is a specialized forum for people with sleep breathing disorders, mostly sleep apnea. So far it doesn't sound to me l...

Re: Doctor changed my setting from auto to cpap
I don't have any major health issues except severe OSA. I do find myself holding my breath during the day and feeling like I can't get enough breath in. I had a CT scan done and my upper airway is very small due to childhood orthodontics and head gear. I'm not overweight either and I'm 57 years old...
