Re: Brain Fog
I agree with the sentiment that ups and downs are normal. Im only a week in, but on the first three days, I noticed a HUGE improvement, then I did a bit of a backslide and now I'm on the up again. The comparison to how I feel now and before CPAP as a whole, that one is no contest. Just taking a shot...

Re: Started CPAP a few months ago..
Jay, Like we have said, while youre using supplemental O2, that increase in oxygen that is floating around in your blood will only be there for about 10 or so minutes until the levels drop back down to normal (what your lungs are capable of maintaining unassisted). But CPAP is incredibly efficient a...

Re: CPAPs for Sale on Craig's List
Well said, I shall begin the hunt and start saving for a backup machine. I have spent enough time in emergency medicine to be a firm believer of two things:Wulfman... wrote: "Murphy's Laws" apply to this therapy, too.
1. Murphy's Law
2. Its always better to have it and not need it, than need it and not have it.

Re: Started CPAP a few months ago..
So, with CPAP, more muscle force is used to exhale, and less muscle force is used to inhale = net difference of zero. Unless you are using EPR or a bilevel setting, in which case your muscles get LAZIER. I'll go with that. You could also argue that the muscles got more exercise before CPAP because ...

Re: Proving the Resmed Airsense 10 CPAP is in fact a brick
Lowsats, can you edit the title with the model number or something so people won't think this thread is about ALL ResMed Airsense models? Is there anything that will help newbies distinguish this brick from the other great models??? Absolutely, I'd be happy to. just tell me what you'd like it to sa...

Re: CPAPs for Sale on Craig's List
Do most people on this forum actually keep a spare machine on hand just in case? This makes a lot of sense to me personally. But I'm new to all of this...
I would love to get my hands on a smaller/portable one for a backup/camping.

Re: Started CPAP a few months ago..
Whether or not you feel it, it has. Normal ventilation is only an active process on inhalation and passive on exhalation. On CPAP it makes both inhalation and exhalation phases active (even with EPR). Hence why a few people new to CPAP complain of a mild, quickly dissipating chest pain/soreness in t...

Re: Started CPAP a few months ago..
CPAP will not make your daytime breathing "more efficient". Wrong. Just like professional athletes have slower resting heart rates because their hearts become more efficient, your muscles are able to work more effectively and efficiently the stronger they are. CPAP causes PEEP, which in turn makes ...

Re: Started CPAP a few months ago..
Hello Jay! Welcome to the forum, there is certainly lots to be learned from people here. Chicagogranny is correct, hemoglobin in your blood can only bind to the extra oxygen for about 10 minutes, so seeing those numbers for about 10 minutes immediately after you stop the therapy would be considered ...

Re: Proving the Resmed Airsense 10 CPAP is in fact a brick
You're most welcome. I know palerider wasn't a fan. But I think this thread really shows how much this machine is really lacking, with hard photographic evidence. Its definitely eye opening to say the least. Just glad I was able to help out, and holy hell I'm so excited to get my autoset. I also pla...

Looks like it finally shows leak data. I literally just turned on the machine, disconnected my mask and let it blow full blast for 5 minutes even. It showed 40 AHI, and I got Mr. Frowny face on the sleep report.

Re: Proving the Resmed Airsense 10 CPAP is in fact a brick
Last night, before I fell asleep, I pulled my mask away from my face and let a huge leak happen for more than 30 seconds, I then opened my mouth and let a mouth leak happen for another 30 seconds. In addition, my fiance reported that I woke her up on several occasions with leaking air from my open m...

I turned off my ramp right from the get go. I actually feel like my pillows fit better with the higher pressure. If you provide us with what machine you have we could probably help out with instructions for disabling it.
