Re: Are these truly obstructive events?
If those were my results, I would consider them to be the result of disturbances. I say this because most of the events are preceded by rapid deep breaths ... The shape of your Flow Rate waveforms indicates considerable mouth breathing as you noted. So, if these are disturbances, what's the cause? ...

Re: Are these truly obstructive events?
If they weren't real, I'd consider reasons for arousals like this.
However, if they are real, I'd consider upping my pressure.

Re: Are these truly obstructive events?
Click on your "events" tab and you will see the length of each event. Remember, the OA is a blockage...an H is a partial blockage...CA generally no blockage. I'm not entirely sure where you're getting at with this comment with respect to my question. I could have worded the question wrong... essent...

Are these truly obstructive events?
Hey all, In case you read my history, I've since been officially diagnosed with CPAP and titrated( 16AHI supine, 8.6AHI on side--all hypopneas, zero obstructions, sats never below 93% ). Moved from a swift nasal pillow to a quattro FFM because my PSG revealed that I am in fact a mouth breather (and ...

Re: New CPAP user having many Centrals
Stop worrying about the CAs...They are insignificant. Changing pressures every day will not prove anything. Stick with one pressure for several days before making changes. I hear what you're saying, but I just want to clarify that I was fiddling with my pressures not to try to find a therapeutic pr...

Re: New CPAP user having many Centrals
Hi, haven't read thru whole story, but is there a reason you're not wearing a full face mask vs the nasal one? Not specifically.I didn't find out I was have these mouth issues until I was using higher pressures for a few days. I did forget to mention that I created a chin strap that I used last nig...

Re: New CPAP user having many Centrals
Update: Congestion issues have been resolved. I'm in a humid climate, was running between 3-5 on my humidifier based on what I quickly read and left it at that. Since then I've been around 0-2, using a second gen antihistamine daily, and afrin in one nostril just at night while I wait for some intr...

Re: New CPAP user having many Centrals
Just wanted to thank you all for your help. Looking into buying either a sleeve for my hose or a heated one (currently using sweat pants, haha). My next step is not getting my nostril used to the nasal pillows. compared to the comfortgel I had before, these are a much better fit, but after a night o...

Definitely learned a great deal from your post. Thank you.
I am new to CPAP (as of saturday).
I take 6mg of melatonin everynight.
I'll try dropping my pressures down to 6 and then either narrowing my auto or turning off pulse pressures.

So what you're say is these look more like arousals?Jay Aitchsee wrote:Lower the pressure, stop worrying about AHI, get comfortable with the treatment, learn what you're doing before trying to make adjustments. Re: New CPAP user having many Centrals
Often increasing pressure too high will increase CAs....You can't eliminate CAs by increasing pressure. You are very new to CPAP. I would set the machine to what your doctor prescribed and let it alone for a week or two. I'm aware you can't eliminate CAs with PAP, but I didn't know you could make t...

Re: New CPAP user having many Centrals
Are you using the Flex exhale relief? If so at what setting? A-flex setting 3. I feel like I'm fighting the machine to exhale in C flex The zoomed in central that you show on Sun May 22 looks more like an arousal or post arousal CA to me anyway. The others where you zoomed in to some extent are not ...

New CPAP user having many Centrals
Hello everyone, Just got my PR system one auto with a-flex this weekend. Been trying to iron things out. First night I had a few OAs and hypos as well as centrals. Since then, I've increased my minimum from 5, to then 7, to then 9. Most of the time I never go above whatever pressure I'm being pulsed...
