Re: Breathing Wrong?
1..How many hours of sleep are you averaging each night using the mask and machine? 6.5, but I am trying to do better. 8.5 last night. 2..Of those hours you use the mask and machine...do you wake often during the night? If so, approx how often and any idea why? Early on I'd wake up because the mach...

Re: Breathing Wrong?
Apnea doesn't cause 'tiredness' (fatigue), but sleepiness, which is not quite the same. I am sorry, I haven't got the terminology down pat yet. I need to learn not to use tired and sleepy as synonyms. Let me try that one again. Something doesn't seem right to me. If sleep apnea was causing me to fe...

Re: Breathing Wrong?
Look at your Sleepyhead report and see what your pressures are doing through the night. I haven't worked out how to post images yet, but to describe last night, my pressure went from 8 to 11 in 30 mins, then decayed back down to 7 in 60 mins, then jumped to 10 and wiggled between 10 and 11 for 30 m...

Re: Breathing Wrong?
All I am asking is, if I have had such good numbers for three months (I looked back through the records in SleepyHead; my average AHI is 1.4, with the odd 3 here and there), and I still feel tired after a good run, should I be looking elsewhere for a solution given the hassles of using the machine? ...

Re: Breathing Wrong?
Unfortunately, no. I never intend to sleep on the sofa during the day, I mean to to the many things that need doing. I just doze off.BlackSpinner wrote:I hope your are sleeping on your sofa with your cpap machine otherwise you undo all the good it does. NEVER sleep without it!

Re: Breathing Wrong?
There's a lot to take in, but I do know enough to know that 0.59 is a good number (but all the same, it is still almost twice 0.30). It may be "fantastic", but "fantastic" is not how I feel.Julie wrote:You have no understanding of either AHI or pressure settings - 0.59 is fantastic!

Re: Breathing Wrong?
What are your pressure settings? Is this what I am supposed to report? Machine Settings ModeCPAP Mode APAP Pressure MinMinimum Therapy Pressure 8.00 cmH2O Pressure MaxMaximum Therapy Pressure 15.00 cmH2O Keep monitoring your Sleepyhead reports. I got an AHI of 0.59 last night, so twice as bad. But ...

Re: Breathing Wrong?
I am coming up to three months on the machine. The maker used to send me chirpy emails awarding me medals and smiley faces but I unsubscribed they were so annoying. They sent a link to a paper which said "80% of users report a benefit after 3 months." I am one of the 20% I guess. How much longer doe...

Re: Breathing Wrong?
So I got the SpeepyHead app working. What a lot of data! Apparently, according to the machine, I just had a great night's sleep, 6:44 hours with an AHI of 0.30 ! But, unfortunately, I have been too tired all day to post until now, I slept on the sofa most of the day and am about ready to go to bed a...

Re: Breathing Wrong?
What are (ALL OF) your settings? Are you doing nasal cleansing before bedtime (so you can breathe through your nose)? If you're using a higher humidity setting, that can contribute to nasal congestion. Are you using software to monitor your therapy? If not, get it and use it ( "Sleepyhead" ). . I a...

Re: Breathing Wrong?
I was too anxious to use my machine last night. Tried for over 40 minutes and gave up. I am going try to reset the machine back to the way it was before (whatever that was); even though I don't think they were working for me, at least I didn't wake up in a panic. The technician at the doctor's offic...

Re: Breathing Wrong?
If you had an abnormal breathing pattern, it would have been noted in your sleep test. What you describe is likely only happening while you are awake, because of anxiety. It gets better. I did a home test, which I think didn't work very well, but was all that was on offer. But you are right that I ...

Re: Breathing Wrong?
Most machines have a pressure relief to help when exhaling. If you would give some information regarding the machine you are using we may be able to help you. Go to the control panel and fill in your equipment profile. I joined this morning and haven't had a chance to fill in all the details. I put...

Breathing Wrong?
I have been using a CPAP machine for two months, with no noticeable improvement and am getting frustrated. I changed my doctor and liked the new guy. He explained a lot more and made some tweaks to my machine, increasing the initial pressure. My first night with the new settings was a bad experience...
