Increased Periodic Breathing with filters
I'm curious if any other CPAP users have experienced the following: I was cruising along for months with a desirable AHI, usually between 2 and 3 and no periodic breathing. Then one particular morning I saw 8% PB, and on subsequent nights somewhere between 2-5% PB. AHI climbed, though not above 5. M...

Re: Vibration/Tinnitus
Thanks for the info. zeeclass. I've wondered about Hydrops myself. When I bend down to pick something up, I've recently had that feeling of "rushing" in my head, like there's fluid moving. Anyway, sorry about your larger hearing troubles. I will try to limit salt for a while and see if it helps. I'm...

Re: Vibration/Tinnitus
The audiologist showed me my frequency readout and my hearing is still "normal." The ENT just sorta shrugged. He thinks maybe my allergies and stuffiness combined with CPAP pressure caused fluid to go up into my eustation tubes, or some kind of inflammation that is affecting them. But he was unable ...

Vibration/Tinnitus
I've been experiencing intermittent low frequency vibration/humming (think light saber) in my right ear for several weeks. I hear it mostly when I'm in a quiet room in the mornings and evenings. It is generally completely drowned out by wind and outside noises. I've done quite a bit of research, and...

Re: Sleep to Wake Timing
Interesting. I had never heard of APSD. This sounds just like me. I just can't sleep late. This was definitely not a problem until the last few years, though.

Re: Sleep to Wake Timing
Yeah, obviously I can't control for all of the confounding variables here. But because my life is highly regimented as a graduate student (and I currently drink no alcohol or coffee), the strongest correlation is with the timing of my sleep. Pretty much all other conditions are the same. In any case...

Sleep to Wake Timing
I'm six months in to CPAP therapy, and there is a clear trend in my charts: the later I fall asleep, the worse I do in terms of AHI. The earlier I fall asleep, the better. If I fall asleep between 9-10pm and wake around 4-5am, my numbers are invariably below 5, usually AHI in the 2's. However, if I ...

Re: Experience significant cluster of CA and PB before waking?
Fair enough. I will try to strike it mentally from my AHI. There's no doubt that on the whole I'm in much better condition since starting CPAP, regardless of a sometimes erratic AHI and the SWJ. What concerns me though--as I'm sure it does others--is the impact these long stretches of irregular brea...

Experience significant cluster of CA and PB before waking?
Almost like clockwork, I have acceptable charts that go to hell within the last hour or two of sleep. Often, but not always, after I've woken up for a spell. I fall back asleep but my AHI climbs right up a ramp, peaking at 23 or so before dropping back down near waking. Largely CA's. Can't really ma...

Sudden Increase in Central Events...why?
I'm puzzling over a couple of nearly identical nights of wake to sleep and sleep to wake central events. For months I've had an AHI of between 2-4. I'll have some centrals scattered in there, but generally no more than 1-2 per hour. Then suddenly I'm having 4-5 per hour. Seems like leaks are under c...

Re: Feedback on a typical recent night
I unfortunately don't have any of my sleep study info. I'll make sure to ask at the next meeting. I know this has been asked many times, and I've done some research on it, but I'm wondering at what point, and by what criteria, is complex sleep apnea judged as such? I know it's early in the game, and...

Re: Feedback on a typical recent night
Humidity at 3. Heated hose turned off. I was up for about 1/2 hour reading with the machine on at first. Choppy nights are pretty typical for me. Up to pee, and then a couple of times awake shifting position. Looking at a month's overall data, it seems there is a rising trend in AHI in the second ha...

Re: Feedback on a typical recent night
Good question. I'm following the prescription I was given...err, sort of, since I've begun changing my settings. I was given a machine that was already set for 7cm a month ago, and then given an appt. for a month from now. So two months without feedback from the sleep doctor to just see what results...

Feedback on a typical recent night
I'd appreciate some experienced eyes on data from a typical "bad" night on CPAP for me. I'm in my 4th week, and though I've had a few nights under 5 AHI, my overall average is 13 and I run generally between 5-10 using the Amara View. My first two weeks were constant mouth leaks with Dreamware mask, ...

DreamStation color question
Do any Dreamstation Pro users know if there's a reason the circle that represents pressure increase in the ramp screen would be orange? The manual says it should be green. But mine is orange. Does this indicate anything?
