Re: Do different masks = different pressure needs?
alcohol doesn't affect silicone, I'd look elsewhere for the problem. (usually loose straps) That's what I thought, but both of my nasal masks started leaking within days of starting to clean them with alcohol. I use the talon hooks to remove/replace the headgear so the straps shouldn't need adjustm...

Re: Do different masks = different pressure needs?
Weird developments: I started wiping the mask off each morning with alcohol pads (not realizing this is not advised) and within days I had large leaks occurring around the edges of the mask that were near impossible to control. I see that some forum members have used alcohol on their masks without p...

Re: Replacement CPAP
What app did you find? I have a myair.resmed.com account to view data online (plus I use sleepyhead too), but I cannot locate an app from Resmed...?englandsf wrote:I found the app, that's what I did not know about. Thx

Re: Do different masks = different pressure needs?
Looking at your reports, I've wondered how you came up with those settings........ Are you actually getting any sleep? Maybe your difference in AHIs is due to sleeping in lighter or deeper sleep stages. Did you have an in-lab sleep study? Are those the settings they prescribed? Den . Completed a pr...

Do different masks = different pressure needs?
I just switched to a different nasal mask and it appears my auto pressures are running much lower. This new mask is larger and does show greater flow rates on the graph (in the instruction pamphlet), so I suspect this may be typical behavior, but I am curious what others think. Background story - st...

Re: Somewhat OT/Eating to your meter
I'm not even pre-diabetic by any means, but the data geek inside me loves this idea and has started tracking each meal this week. Is there an app anyone recommends for correlating the data? There are a ton of apps for tracking blood sugar, and a ton for tracking food intake, but I'm not finding any ...

Re: PR S1 Series 60 Auto v Resmed unit
Glad to hear that you had no problems with the new machine. I didn't think you would. About the PR S1...you know it had some hours on it and while not a horrible number of hours...still some hours...makes me wonder if it was returned because of the noise and instead of the DME sending it off to hav...

Re: PR S1 Series 60 Auto v Resmed unit
I know a single night doesn't reveal all - but, first impression is the old PR S1 was a Yugo and the A10 is a Cadillac. Loved it - absolutely zero motor whine. Pressure levels ran up near my typical max of 11, but I didn't feel anywhere near as much pressure as I seemed to feel from the PR S1. Looki...

Re: PR S1 Series 60 Auto v Resmed unit
Persistency for the win! The attitude of the DME office employees still means that if I never see them again that will suit me just fine, but I was lucky enough to develop a nice rapport with the respiratory therapist the first visit and so he was more than willing to take care of me today - he actu...

Re: PR S1 Series 60 Auto v Resmed unit
Lincare has a bad reputation, so beware of jumping from the frying pan into the fire. If you can afford to buy your own and bypass all these goons, then go for it. Thanks - UHC only has three in-network DME providers and Lincare claims they only provide 100% new equipment. If I do have to switch, a...

Re: PR S1 Series 60 Auto v Resmed unit
As a side note, I started my home therapy with a Nuance Pro nasal pillow, but found I started fighting it on the third night when the pressure ramped up to 11. I switched back to the Pico nasal mask from my sleep study and liked that better at first (it seemed easier to fit firmly to my face so it w...

Re: PR S1 Series 60 Auto v Resmed unit
Try this experiment....turn your machine and breathe normally and listen for the breathing noise. Stick your fingers in your ears and if you still hear it then the noise is more conducted than it out in the room. There are ways to limit/reduce conducted noise should it continue to be a problem. Tha...

Re: PR S1 Series 60 Auto v Resmed unit
I have owned both brands of your machine and even the older M series Respironics. Got the first PR System One 50 series Auto...no heated hose. Then got a ResMed S9 with heated hose...love it. Then got a PR S1 60 series auto and added the upgrade kit for the heated hose because it didn't come with o...

Re: PR S1 Series 60 Auto v Resmed unit
What's maddening is that I am getting different answers almost every time I call UHC. I'm even telling each UHC rep that I am documenting the names and time for each call so that I hopefully don't get flippant answers. I've also asked for my Evidence of Coverage, which supposedly has to be mailed to...
