Re: Dreamstation AHI # and General Help
Update: I have been starting to feel slightly better, however my numbers started to creep up again. I purchased a chin strap because even though I didnt have dry mouth, my girlfriend would tell me she could hear me opening my mouth in the night. Anyways, night 1 with the chinstrap and the numbers go...

Re: Dreamstation AHI # and General Help
Couple more nights under my belt and AHI still floating between 3-5. Only the first night was under 3. When I logged into SH this morning with last nights data, it said "You are having major leak problems" This is the first time I have seen this and am not sure what to do about it. The Peak leak an...

Re: Dreamstation AHI # and General Help
Are you experiencing any dry mouth? This would be an indication the leak is going out your mouth. If you do not have dry mouth ---------------------> Still not experiencing any dry mouth - However I think your suggestion of setting the mask fit at the higher pressure first will help, Thanks! Haha w...

Re: Dreamstation AHI # and General Help
You two are hijacking Griz's nice thread where he is making some progress. Rude! Start your own threads. Haha well if this thread can help facilitate improvement for them as well, thats ok with me! that's a big improvement, you may be able to do better. if you're sleeping comfortably, I'd say raise...

Re: Dreamstation AHI # and General Help
as to sleep studies... they may be " The GOLD Standard ", but they are, in many ways, woefully inadequate if you think about it. you're in an artificial environment, all wired up and less comfortable than normal. it's *one night* and likely only part of that night. reading any titration report, you...

Re: Dreamstation AHI # and General Help
I have a slightly different view than RobySue does. for the first few nights, right at the beginning, I think that making significant changes is fine, especially if you're starting out with a default setting machine (typically 4-20), look at your data every day, and adjust till you've got the lower...

Re: Dreamstation AHI # and General Help
Our OSA is not the same every night AND it takes a while for the brain and body to acclimate to any change in the script. Some of us are more sensitive than others to changes. It's also important that CPAP data is best thought of as "trending" data. In other words, you don't want to over react to o...

Re: Dreamstation AHI # and General Help
hopefully, it makes some sense... to really get a very good idea what you need, zoom in with SH, and look at what pressures you are at when you have events... it'd be great if SH would add that to the event list.... however, you can see, with a bit of work, "well, when it's this low, I have problem...

Re: Dreamstation AHI # and General Help
I suggest 7.5 min, 10 max. Palerider, can I ask how you came to this? Looking at the info - it looks like the average level was 5.6 so would that not be the minimum? Just curious how you picked those suggestions! you have to go beyond trying to summarize the night into a couple numbers. look at you...

Re: Dreamstation AHI # and General Help
Are you having any dry mouth? If those were my charts, I would set the machine to APAP mode with min pressure 4.0 and max pressure 8.0. Let the auto function do some work and see if it can reduce the number of events. The chart should be reviewed after one night with the changes. I'd suggest at lea...

Re: Dreamstation AHI # and General Help
For most people, higher pressures are only a matter of potential discomfort. Thanks, I will try to adjust the settings and post an update. Periodically, your insurance company may require a certification that you are using the machine. This can be done by a DME or a doctor's office. You can take th...

Re: CPAP Newbie. Feeling overwhelmed and frustrated
griz31 , thanks for the reply! Are you using Mac or Windows? (Does that matter?) I'll try downloading and see what happens. Thanks for letting me know this! I have Windows 7. I would assume they would update their software for both OS, but I could be wrong. I just plugged my SD card in the computer...

Re: CPAP Newbie. Feeling overwhelmed and frustrated
Hey! Also a new user and been having a lot of issues getting used to the machine as well. While I cant offer much in the way of "it gets better", I can say that you're not the only one and we gotta stick with it! I keep my mask on during the night. But I will wake up throughout the night, and the so...
