Re: Clinic vs Online
I went through Coastal Sleep, but my work insurance paid for everything. I will say that the sleep therapist was very helpful in getting me accepting of and using CPAP. Unlike the USA, the people at the clinics here do analyst your sleep data (from the CPAP machine) and make changes in your therapy....

A lot of people, myself included, like the F&P Simplus. It seals well once you get the strap tension correct.

Re: Brain fog and depression
I was under treatment for depression before starting CPAP. The first two nights changed my life entirely. I am now a very happy person. I would never, ever want to sleep without this again.

Re: Diagnosis - Results Inside, Please Help!
I was in your position about six years ago with an AHI slightly over 10 and a primary complaint of not falling asleep quickly and frequent awakenings during the night. The sleep doc called it "sleep apnea lite" and told to lose 20 pounds and quit drinking alcohol. He said if I did not do that, I'd e...

Google "CPAP gel liners", is that what your doctor meant?

Re: Sleep disorders and work performance
Hi Leptic, a fellow Canadian here. I don't think I was quite as badly affected as you but I was starting to consider if early retirement was going to be necessary. I'd already gone way down in management levels, which I now realize was at least partly related to my sleep apnea. Mostly I just tried t...

Re: Anticipating change to meds if start cpap
I've been on various anti-depressants for years. I was on a new one that went from totally ineffective to fantastic literally overnight when I stated CPAP. I had to reduce my dosage at that point as I was too energizes in the day. Once I get settled into the machine, I will talk to my doctor about a...

Re: Back in the Saddle Anxiety/Temperature
My long term anxiety and depression were almost eliminated when I started CPAP. I was not expecting this, I just realized one day when I would usually be having anxiety attacks that I was calm and happy.

Re: AHI 50, 15 yrs Apnea, a programmer wants to be able to work
I tend to be a shallow breather, especially when I am concentrating on something. The CPAP pressure might be just enough of a reminder to my body to breather more deeply. Maybe it is something like that? Regardless, I'd be pressing my doctor to make some more in-depth investigations. A day time oxim...

Re: Dreamstation AHI # and General Help
Dreamstation CPAP Machine If that is your machine, that gave you a straight CPAP "brick". A brick is a machine that does not record the full data needed for proper management of your therapy. A straight CPAP is a machine that will only run at one pressure. An APAP (auto POP) will adjust pressures a...

Re: Recently diagnosed and anxious
Welcome April! I too am a life long sufferer of depression and anxiety. I'd been off of anti-depressants for a year or so trying amino acids (The Mood Cure) when I crashed so bad that I begged my doctor to put me back on anti-depressants. Six or seven weeks later I was no better and had an appointme...

Re: Just diagnosed
I was in denial for a long time too. Sure enough, I have sleep apnea. The changes and when the happen vary a lot from person to person. I had an overnight (or over two nights) dramatic improvement in daytime energy and mental clarity and an unexpected reduction in anxiety and depression. I also took...
