New Inexpensive Sleep Apnea Cure?

A story on our local news service in Melbourne was reporting on a newly developed treatment for Sleep Apnea. A small "clip" like device you put in your nose and your own breathing provides the pressure needed to keep your airways open. Link to the video below. Colour me sceptical. Thoughts? https://...

Re: DreamWear Problem

I'll be going back to my DreamWear and just teaching myself to keep my mouth closed (great tips - thanks!). As I mentioned above, I first tried and Amara View - hated it! Uncomfortable as anything! So then tried a Resmed F10.... only way I could get it to stop leaking was to pull it tight and then i...

Re: DreamWear Problem

Seems my problem is that I'm opening my mount at night. Took my DreamWear back yesterday and got an Amara View to try - absolutely horrible mask! Only way I could get air to stop leaking into my eyes was to pull harder on the straps which then hurt the sides of my face (it's very rigid on the sides ...

Re: DreamWear Problem

As promised, here's my Sleepyhead data for the last week. As you can see - day after day, large Leak rate was 0%, then a couple of days 3% and 5% (still no big deal) but then over 20% and then 14%. I'll monitor it for the next couple of nights, but I have an appointment with me sleep clinic on Thurs...

Re: DreamWear Problem

Hi Pugsy, I'll post some Sleepyhead data later this evening when I get home from work! I do vaguely remember fiddling with the mask during the night - but not often. So it is waking me slightly, but it's not constant or anything (I'd get more disturbance from kids during the night than I would the m...

Re: DreamWear Problem

Not sure what's going on with it!!! I've had it for about 2 weeks now, the first 10 nights - no problems at all and no leaks! Then - my last 4 nights have been significant leaks, significant leaks, major leaks, major leaks! On period last night it was leaking for about 20 mins! I may try the medium-...

DreamWear Problem

Not really expecting anyone could assist me with this - just doing some "venting" - geddit - mask, air - vent....... anyway!!! I recently finished up my CPAP trial and toward the end of it I was using a medium frame, medium nose piece DreamWear mask and was doing pretty well with it. Had a couple of...

Re: Feeling Discouraged

I know how you're feeling. I'm a new user as well and have had some of the same experiences, especially the difficulty breathing. With that, what starting pressure are you on? During my trial on apap, my pressure was set at 4-20. I found at the start of the night it felt like I was struggling to get...

Re: CPAP sucess causing marriage issues

In what you have posted, there is no indication that your wife is being treated properly. She's only just been recently diagnosed with it and is working with our family doctor on a treatment plan. There's been talk of possible iron infusions (apparently not very nice), however as a last resort - se...

Hi Grace,

There's actually a topic about it on these boards that I found when googling -

Re: CPAP sucess causing marriage issues

Good suggestions, yes - unfortunately not helpful in our case!

Her problem isn't in not getting enough iron, her problem is she doesn't absorb iron properly!

Re: CPAP sucess causing marriage issues

Myself, I' was diagnosed with sleep apnea a couple of months ago and just finished my month long cpap trial (I'm getting my own machine this weekend). So - I'm getting better (sort of), but my wife is getting worse! We have 3 small children (3, 4 and 6) so sleep is a limited commodity at the best of...

Newly Diagnosed - Starting CPAP Trial

Hi All, I've been recently diagnosed with Sleep Apnea (AHI of 63 and a blood oxygenation level that drops to 79%) so I've just kicked off my month long CPAP trial. I was able to take home a couple of different masks to try.... took home a full face mask and a nasal mask. Started with the nasal mask,...
