Re: Air Filter! Why? Do I need it? If so wheres the proof?
The filters for my machine are pretty darn cheap, imo. $5 for more than a one-year supply (I realize different machines may have different filters & costs). I have lots of dust and pets in my house, so I change mine out once a month.

Re: Why the hell would I use a humidifier.
My doc told me that "studies have shown" having the humidifier is one of the two factors positively affecting cpap compliance and leading to happy users, and that compliance numbers rose sharply after humidifiers were added as standard to the machines. (I forget what the second factor was.)

Re: Lifting the hose up
After some further thought, I think I will string my hose back up on the hook thingy above my head. I don't think it makes a difference to me not having it lifted up, in terms of comfort or positioning, but I'm worried I might damage the hose by sitting on it/laying on it/getting it pinched in the m...

Re: Nasal pillow mask and side sleepers
Side sleeper using the Swift FX. Works for me. Within limits -- I do end up repositioning a lot when I'm trying to fall asleep.

Re: Lifting the hose up
I suspect that the location/position of the CPAP unit relative to the bed and the head makes a difference, also. Thanks for the replies, guys-I will keep experimenting.

Lifting the hose up
For years, I have used a hose stand or a hose hook contraption to elevate the hose above my head-supposed to make the hose less unwieldy. However, I've noticed during times I don't lift the hose up (e.g., when away from home traveling) there seems to be no difference. It doesn't seem that elevating ...

Re: Loud hissing noise when sleeping
A lot of times when there's a loud, strange noise I find it's not in the mask, but in the unit itself -- usually something (chamber, hose) needs to be pushed in/re-seated.

Re: UPDATED: Really need recs for new mask
Still really hating the Brevia. Can't scratch my nose without unseating the seal, and it's a PITA to re-position on the fly at night. The clips on the side holding the mask dig into my cheeks. My ear is sore and my nostrils are, too. In addition, the silicone that comprises the nasal pillows is very...

Re: Relatively new, blind CPAP user.
They need to make something voice activated for you. Alexa to the rescue? (The class action/ADA comment made above would of course be for U.S. users.) For daily use, I don't adjust the settings at all, just turn it off via the button at the top of the machine if I need to get up. Otherwise, I do per...

Re: UPDATED: Really need recs for new mask
Here's an update: I got the Brevida mask from F&P. It comes in two sizes: extra-small and small; and medium to large. I got the medium to large size, based on the fact that I use the medium nasal pillows with my Swift FX. NOPE! I had to go back and order the smaller size pillows, which did work. The...

Re: bed wedge?
yeah but . . . a wedge is a wedge. It's a triangle. It elevates the upper body. Wondering why would it matter what the diagnosis is.

Re: More sinus congestion with more humidity?
maybe an allergy pill would help? Like Singulair/montelukast. I take it for asthma/allergies. I also blow my nose right before putting my mask on.
