NO, I don't think the new filter was leaking unfiltered air around it. It just didn't fit as tight. Yes, I was really surprised in the difference. I have not had tooth pain, however, I have had my gums hurting a bit in the roof of my mouth...so like behind my teeth. I was also curious to know if others have gum pain. I think its from the dry air since I am a mouth breather. I plan to go to a dentist this week as well. Good luck!
