Re: I think I stop breathing
Describe your sleep hygiene: I typically go to bed at 9:30 and am up at 5:30. Last week was slightly different because of spring break. I went to bed an hour later and slept as long as I could. I was up anywhere from 5:00 - 7:00. I don't use the bedroom for anything other than sleep and sex. I do ha...

Re: I think I stop breathing
My original post is here... I do follow w good sleep hygiene. If I were able, I'd exercise. I get in10,000 steps, but I would do more. Lots of night awakenings I'm trying to figure out. Very tired. http://www.cpaptalk.com/viewtopic/t111011/Newbie-but-oldie-with-frequent-night-awakenings.html Thanks ...

Re: Newbie, but oldie with frequent night awakenings
I posted earlier today that I think I stop breathing sometimes. It's like I exhale and then forget to inhale. I know this because there is not noise coming from the headgear/mask... I wonder if that is causing my awakenings. I am being hypersensitive to any possibility -- I just want restorative con...

Re: I think I stop breathing
Good point. I am hypersensitive to everything. I just want to figure out why I'm not getting decent restorative sleep.

I think I stop breathing
I noticed the last night or two that I forget to breath sometimes. I exhale and stop. I wonder if this is causing my awakenings. Why would I not breathe in again, especially on Cpap?

Re: Whistling mask
When I breathe out, mine humms. Is that the noise? I wear ear plugs... There should be a better solution though.

WEEK 2 ~ Re: Newbie, but oldie with frequent night awakening
First, thank you all who have taken such time to help me understand what is going on. I appreciate you beyond words. I have kept the CPAP on the setting of 7. I did move to my daughter's room on the off chance that my BF's snoring keeps me up when I am restless. He ordered a mouth guard... Until he ...

Re: Newbie, but oldie with frequent night awakenings
Hi Robysue - Since getting the CPAP, I've been going to bed around 8:45 and turning the CPAP on and wearing it to get use to it. Doctor's advice... The time I usually go to sleep is between 9:30 and 10:15. If I turn the machine off before then it is because I have to use the bathroom, no other reaso...

Re: Newbie, but oldie with frequent night awakenings
Robysue - Thank you so much for the reply! I didn't see it until now. I am trying not to dwell/obsess on sleep. I feel better the last two or three days, but by better I mean not as awful as I did... still not energized though. I've kept the CPAP on 7. I will look for the book you recommend. I use t...

Re: Dreamwear weird noise
Thanks it is comfy. It hums only on exhale. Low pitched. I tried adjusting things. Not sure why... It woke me or kept me up a few times.

Dreamwear weird noise
There was a weird noise coming from my mask last night. Low constant hum like a whale. It didn't coincide with my breathing. I tried adjusting the mask it didn't help. Any ideas? Last night was the first night I heard it. It was all night, not soothing music. On a side note, I dreamt briefly so one ...

Re: Newbie, but oldie with frequent night awakenings
Hi Den, I think Robysue suggested 7. I can leave it where it is. I am looking for a block of quality sleep that will make me feel refreshed, less exhausted. I may have jumped the gun on changing it because I am hoping if I make a slight change, things will correct themselves. I'm also unsure if I sh...

Re: Newbie, but oldie with frequent night awakenings
Gosh there is a lot of information on this thread. I printed it and will try to learn as much as I can. Below is last night's data. Restless for 136 minutes, 14 x. I had two "major" periods of uninterrupted sleep 11:09 - 11:54 and then from 2:35 - 3:34. There were a couple of others, but less than 4...

Re: Newbie, but oldie with frequent night awakenings
RobySue - Thank you for the info! The two times I turned of the machine were times I had to go to the bathroom. I was incredibly restless from about 3:30 til 6:15, getting virtually no sleep during that period. Then I slept well from 6:15 til about 8:00. I had two other good periods of sleep... from...
