Re: Adjusting Dreamwear Mask?
Thanks so much for all of the responses!! I'm actually using a large frame with a small cushion. According to my measurements I have a big head, but a small nose. It did come with other sized cushions, but I haven't played with them much because I read somewhere that you should used the smallest cus...

Adjusting Dreamwear Mask?
I recently got the Dreamwear mask that everybody raves about and I agree, it is very comfortable... but I feel like I'm not getting enough air when I inhale because the opening where air comes into my nose isn't very big. Part of what I didn't like about my other mask is that it felt like part of th...

Re: Starting my Apnea journey
My doctor sent my script to Apria Healthcare, I guess because that's the supplier they use, but I kind of wish I'd gotten my script and went somewhere else. Apria is pretty darn slow and it's so frustrating to wait when you know you could be feeling so much better. Best of luck to you! I hope you ge...

Re: The second slept study (titration)
I'm very new to CPAP, but it took 6 weeks from the day of my at-home sleep study to the day I picked up my machine and mask. My insurance is through United Healthcare and they don't like to pay for the full-blown sleep studies because they're so expensive. They prefer to pay a little more for an aut...

Re: Night #2 on CPAP & Dreading It
Thanks for the congestion tips, SACohen! I think the switch will be more comfortable and the congestion thing was really all that was holding me back. As far as the benzos go... I only have them because of two panic attacks I had over a year ago. It's not something I typically struggle with, but wit...

Re: Night #2 on CPAP & Dreading It
I would recommend you get sleepyhead software to monitor your treatment. The MyAir gives you basic information on your treatment, but sleepyhead will give you much more information. Your DME and/or sleep doctor will use the MyAir information to monitor usage compliance and how effective your treatm...

Re: Easing hubby into CPAP
Hi there, I'm pretty new to this myself, so I can sympathize with you there! Did your husband have a formal sleep study done? I know usually they observe part of the night and then start therapy the second part so they can probably titrate the machine and figure out the right pressure for him. I did...

Re: Night #2 on CPAP & Dreading It
Thank you for all the encouragement! The second night was much better! The grading scale gave me a 99 out of 100 and I slept almost 10 hours... but that was after staying up way too late and taking 4 Benzos. I still might try to get a nasal mask tomorrow. No one ever told me I was a mouth breather, ...

Re: Sex Life and Sleep Apnea
...sleep apnea has a significant impact on one's sexual health mostly in men not women whom I think, remain largely unaffected by it. It absolutely has an impact on female sex drive! I think you're mostly assuming it doesn't because we don't have an appendage that we have to get up and keep up... S...

Night #2 on CPAP & Dreading It
Hi, I'm new here and new to CPAP therapy. Last night was my first night and it didn't go so well. It seemed okay at first, but I have an auto machine that ramps up the pressure after I fall asleep. When I woke up not long after that it was pushing air into my stomach and it made me feel panicky, so ...
