Re: What is the CPAP machine filter for?
Thanks. I've used my cpap for a year- never used the humidifier. The filter still looks new.

What is the CPAP machine filter for?
Is it to protect the machine, or to benefit the user?

Re: Swallowing air at prescribed pressure-ok to reduce?
Thanks so much for the reassurance. The gas pain was bad enough that I went to the ER- dropping to 7 was a desperation move. So far, I'm around .7 AHI or so, at the lower pressure, and no gas pain, or "bloat" (ugh) as they call it in the ER.

Swallowing air at prescribed pressure-ok to reduce?
Been using my CPAP for a little over a month. I'm having troubles with swallowing air at night at the pressure recommended for me:10. The gas pain the next day is terrible- Is there any harm in dialing down the pressure if the AHI incidents seem to remain low- under 1.0? I went down to 7 a couple of...

Re: Anyone here NOT use insurance? (U.S.A)
I can't comment on the cost of no insured testing- others will help with that. I bought my unit and heated hose from SecondwindCpap and my mask from Amazon - total price was $700 for everything. You'll get lots of good advice here about working out your equipment needs.

Now, after a couple of weeks use ..
It didn't take long before it didn't bother me any more at all. I'm a couple of weeks into using my CPAP and it doesn't bother me at all. I had one night when I took the mask off, woke up, put it back on, fell asleep, and woke up with the mask off again. One night, so no biggie. I've figured out th...

First night last night, not too bad.
I think I swallowed lots of air, but otherwise, not bad = gastric insufflation = lots of tootin'. Sleep study is 20 AHI, pressure 10. Used 10mg Ambien. Autoset is APAP with 9-10 range (wanted to keep it simple) no ramp, EGR on/set to 2, time in bed, 8 hours. Machine report says 6.16 hours, no mask l...

Re: First CPAP advice- home run customer service!
Home run customer service from CPAP Liquidators/SecondWind CPAP: they were out of stock for their $599 rebuilt S10 Autosense for Her with Climatelineair, and shipped instead a new S10 Autosense for Her unit w/o the Climatelineair, currently selling on their website for $789. How great is that! Got a...

Re: First CPAP advice
CPAP Liquidators is related to SecondwindCPAP- the shipping manager who emailed about being out-of-stock has a secondwindcpap email address and the same phone number is provided on both the liquidators and second wind web sites. The machine I ordered is a "ResMed S10 AiResMed AirSense AutoSet For He...

Re: First CPAP advice
Ordered a USED CPAP from CPAP Liquidators - will they actually ship the unit? Ordered on Friday - today I'm told they are out-of-stock for "3-4 business days".
Has anyone used this source? Reliable? Thank for your advice!

Re: First CPAP advice
Thank you, thank you.. will note all of this when I visit on Wednesday to get the unit. Interestingly (only to me, I know) I just now got word from the pulmonary doc that I need more tests because the completed work up tests he's read indicate an autoimmune disease.I'm a 10 year breast cancer surviv...

Re: First CPAP advice
Obstructive. The results sheet issued from the sleep study facility seems general- not specific. States AHI: 20 and Inspiratory pressure: 10 - no other readings. Would there be another more technical and useful report filed with the pulmonary doc? Specs for machine listed on the sheet include option...
