Re: 5 Month Check-in - SleepyHead Data Review Request

The lower straps around the back of my neck create cervical pain. This is likely going to be an issue with just about any full face mask just because those masks need an anchor point for the bottom of the mask. It's one of the reasons I pretty much couldn't wear any full face masks for the longest ...

Re: 5 Month Check-in - SleepyHead Data Review Request

I'll start working on my next post: the quest for a full face mask. keep it in this thread, so all your history/issues/info is in one place... makes it easier to help ya. OK, here is my first mask question Current Mask: Swift FX Nano Standard size mask with chinstrap and paper tape. I like it a lot...

Re: 5 Month Check-in - SleepyHead Data Review Request

Take any medications? Tylenol and ibuprofen. I do have access to Ambien but have not been taking it as I have no problems falling sleep. If I were in your shoes I would maybe concentrate on the obstructive stuff first along with working on the mask and leak issues that are causing the wake ups. The...

Re: 5 Month Check-in - SleepyHead Data Review Request

Your leak rate is well within the machine's ability to compensate...are the leaks (even minor) causing wake ups? How many hours of sleep are you averaging? Are those hours of sleep fragmented by multiple wake ups? If so, approx how many wake ups and any idea as to why? I wake up usually 2-3 times a...

5 Month Check-in - SleepyHead Data Review Request

I am at my 5 month mark using biPap. Still not feeling great but have managed to find a mask that works and a pressure that keeps the aerophagia at a bearable level. I'd love someone to look over my SleepyHead data and give me a read. My doctor will not see me until the 1 year mark and feels my numb...

Re: How Many Centrals Are Too "Many"

They tend to cluster. Do they tend to cluster during periods when you know you are likely awake or semi-awake? If so, they may be nothing more than normal sleep transition centrals that would not be scored on an in-lab PSG. I tend to discount the ones at the start and at the end, focusing on the on...

Re: How Many Centrals Are Too "Many"

@jnk, that did the trick (also, the post you linked to was interesting as I too have a connective tissue disorder that can (rarely) cause Central Apnea). Anyhow, here is what a sample cluster of CAs look like. No idea what I am seeing, but the average duration is ...15 seconds? I think that is what ...

Re: How Many Centrals Are Too "Many"

This is all very helpful. I am getting between 15-20 per night (so far).I don't roll over in my sleep (bad shoulders). They tend to cluster. I'll keep monitoring them. Right now I am trying to recover from the "you need a wide mask" expedition. So much air leaked into my eyes a few nights ago, I am ...

How Many Centrals Are Too "Many"

I am still in my first 30 days of biPap. MY AHI is around 2-3 each night. Right now my OA/Hypo combined is around 1. The rest is Central. I figure I need at least one month (or 2) to get the settings right and my body adjusts. But when I have adjusted and if I am still not feeling rested, and if the...

Re: Swift FX Nano mask sizing

In case anyone wants to know: the best way of measuring success is by using sleepyhead to see the leaks Using the size recommended (standard) by the maufactruer and my testing http://i.imgur.com/wUMo1v5h.png url] The tech's recommendation with the wide nosepad http://i.imgur.com/WozsgeSh.png I tried...

Swift FX Nano mask sizing

I used the sizing template to order a nasal mask and it suggested standard size. It seems to work OK. However, when I went in for a mask check another DME tech said I needed a wide mask because the edges of your nose should never touch the sides of the mask. I tried that one and it feels loose. Will...

Re: Aerophagia

Thank you all (and Robysue for the last post). As I've been puzzling over this, I noted a few things: 1. My daytime swallowing has increased because of the bloated belly. I suspect it is part of that closed loop where the air pressure increases the acid reflux, I salivate more and then swallow more ...

Re: Aerophagia

I also did some digging in other forums and came across this post. Note: they are not talking about the same machine I am using http://www.talkaboutsleep.com/message-boards/topic/aerophagia-again-gerd/ The takeaway I am getting from this post is: 1. If using the auto mode, keep the min-max range nar...

Re: Aerophagia

the new settings (which are still creating the problem) are Vauto Mode max-IPAP: 15 Min-EPAP: 8 PS: 4 The machine seems to have settled on an average IPAP: 12 EPAP: 8. The pressure graph shows fluctuations with IPAP roaming between 11 and 14 and the EPap always tracking along 4 points below. When I...

Re: Aerophagia

I am on bilevel because during the titration study the "sweet spot" (and the only spot that brought my AHI below 15) was IPAP: 15 and EPAP: 11. That qualified me for a bi-pap machine. The prescription was written for that (no PS offered) so the tech programmed the machine as Vauto with max-IPAP 15 ...
