Re: Disinfecting tank and hose
well just for the sake of discussion, I had never cleaned my tank. Had this machine for at least a year. Never cleaned the one before either. The last few days I felt like i was having sinus headaches which are unusual for me. So I took a closer look at the tank, swished some water around in it and ...

Disinfecting tank and hose
Hi all. Probably been other threads in this but wanted to ask myself. What are the options for cleaning and disinfecting my humidifier tank and hose? I am particularly interested in the disinfecting part. My Resmed manual says to just use soapy water. I did some Google searching and in here too and ...

Re: reducing leaks with a full mask
Thanks all. The liners are definitely helping. I had found Silent Night and RemZZZZ on cpap.com so I had ordered those. So far, I have used the Silent Night because they have tabs that hold the liner in place. Padacheek looks good too. I will probably try that one at some point.

are the commercial pads just plain cotton? Doesn't sound like a particularly good gasket material: porous

Re: reducing leaks with a full mask
It's important that you fit the mask with the machine blowing and the cushions expanded. If you tighten down the mask too tight the cushions can't expand...that is what forms the seal. Make sure your skin is clean and "free" from oils. Padacheek.com has excellent mask liners that last a long time. ...

Re: reducing leaks with a full mask
hey thanks. I found some stuff. Mask liners by two different companies and two different "gel" type sealers. MaskSeal is a silicone based goo but seems to be not available. The other one i found was Aloe based. I bought Lanolin a while back for irritation when i was using a P10 so I have that sittin...

reducing leaks with a full mask
Hi all. I have not been here in a while. I was doing ok using the standard Dreamwear nasal mask but I had to also use a chin strap to stop mouth breathing and dry mouth. Recently, I became aware that Respironics had come out with nasal pillow and full mask versions of the dream wear. I got my self s...

mouth piece to keep mouth closed
So I have been using a Dreamware for about two years now. However, I have to use it with a chin strap or else I have mouth breathing problems and wake up with ultra dry mouth. I still get that some even with the strap. I have been sticking with it because my AHI is about 1.0 and I don't have any alt...

Re: Dreamwear: air out the top?
well since the thread cam back alive, I'll post an update. Dreamwear continues to be my primary mask. However, I have to use it with a chin strap. Otherwise I do much mouth breathing and I wake up in the middle of the night with extremely dry mouth. I don't really like having to also use the chin st...

Re: chin strap: over or under mask straps?
How'd you like to be the model that gets to be photographed wearing the collar. Stunning Just being a little sardonic. I mean putting all this this junk on my head to get better sleep. Just not very romantic. Sort of Machiavellian; the ends justify the means. Its unclear if my wife liked the old sno...

So is the idea that it pushes up on your chin to keep your mouth closed?LAGrandpa wrote:Have you tried a soft cervical collar? For me it is more comfortable than a chin strap and works as well or better.

Re: chin strap: over or under mask straps?
Thanks folks. Yeah I forgot about the airway tubes on the side. Well.... whether its a good appliance or not, it seems to be helping. I was liking my dreamware and per a previous post, I was increasing the pressure to get my AHI back down but started waking up with extremely dry mouth. I tried going...

chin strap: over or under mask straps?
I think the title says it all but I am researching whether a chin strap is intended to go over or under the mask straps. I think the photos I have seen seem to show the chin strap going over the masks straps but then you'd have to take everything off if you need to get up in the middle of the night....

Re: Mouth venting with nasal masks
What bothered me about your comment was that it sort of bought into what a lot of DMEs say...people using higher pressures can't get effective therapy with a nasal interface mask and that is simply not true. I was afraid a newbie might read it and not understand that it isn't necessarily true. That...
