Recommendations for a back-up full face mask to my DreamWear
I use the DreamWear nasal cpap mask and love it. Have had it about a year. A couple weeks ago I had the flu and decided I need to get a full face mask for those few times when a nasal only option will not work like having the flu or cold. It was hell being so sick and then not sleeping well either! ...

Re: Sleep lab results, says no auto machine
Due to moving, changing insurance companies, then going on Medicare, I have had eight sleep studies over the past 20 yrs. Never has anyone at the sleep clinic been involved with prescribing a machine. The sleep doctor or neurologist who sent me to the clinic for a study was the one who does that. T...

Re: Sleep lab results, says no auto machine
I hope I am not hijacking a thread. I though about starting a new one, but I thought the title fit my experience. The problem is that when you are diagnosed, you just do what they tell you to do. You don't know any better. Exactly! That was me with the first one I got too many years ago. They just ...

Re: Sleep lab results, says no auto machine
Listen. Quite frankly, thats NOT GOOD ENOUGH. I am telling you this as a sleep doc. The only thing that would maek me comfortable is the following: Ask for the following: AutoPAP - ONLY AutoPAP. Even if your doctor writes prescription for regualr CPAP and they tell you they have you give you regula...

Re: Sleep lab results, says no auto machine
UPDATE: I talked to the Medical Supply Comany and she said that they would likely be supplying me with a DreamStation APAP. She said they are still working with insurance so I don't have a final on that but I'm feeling better about it all. I did go by and get my report and prescription. Sad that I h...

Re: Headgear Issues - Resmed PT10 for her
I use nasal pillows but not that brand. I do have longer hair but its layered some (not super short). I have to put the head gear on and where the back strap lays I pull all the hair up and over so basically the strap is laying on my scalp and root area not on my hair. I don't bun it up but maybe yo...

Re: Sleep lab results, says no auto machine
I have only seen a sleep doctor one time and I was so happy to get an appointment with her because she also uses a cpap machine. She told me that she uses a straight cpap and will never prescribe any other type of machine because this is all she needs so she thinks it is all anyone else will need. ...

Re: Sleep lab results, says no auto machine
The sleep tech may not be speaking for the doctor. Sounds like he is trying to make himself feel important by being controlling. Talk with the doctor who writes the prescription. Give him good reasons for wanting Auto and see what he says. No way would I take a machine that just monitors usage. I w...

Re: Sleep lab results, says no auto machine
I have a question. Must the prescription state an Auto? Since Auto can be run in a straight CPAP mode, could a DME just set up an Auto as a CPAP? Is there anything that prevents a DME from doing this? This is for my own knowledge for when I need to replace my machine. Thanks! John You are exactly r...

Re: Sleep lab results, says no auto machine
And how many thousands does a sleep study cost. Be aware that they may try to give you a low end model that does not record data. They make more money that way. Does your doctor have some relationship with the sleep lab or DME? I know! Yes, the doctor does have a relationship with this lab. It's in...

Sleep lab results, says no auto machine
Yesterday I talked to the sleep tech (not sure of his actual title) about my sleep study 2 weeks ago. I've recently asked here for suggestions and info on machines, etc... since my last one was years ago. They will be raising my pressure from 9 to 11 as I was having events until that level. I asked ...

Re: Any mail order cpap supply companies that accept insurance?
Thanks for the help. I know to check with insurance, but it is super helpful to find out if people have dealt with online companies. That is why I asked, not because I didn't know. So thanks to those who provide that kind of info I have found a local company that has them, now just have to wait for ...

Re: Replacing a 9 yr old machine, what to know?
Den, I really don't see where it would say what it is. Just a basic model I think. There are no bells or whistles on it and the only thing I think I can do with it is change the altitude setting. It has worked really well for me.
