Re: THE GREAT PILLOW EXCHANGE
I have several pillows that I can't use: (2) ResMed P10 size Small (2) ResMed P10 size Medium (1) ResMed Swift FX Small These are extra sizes that came in my mask packages. One of the P10 Mediums I tried for a few seconds. The others haven't been used at all, but I have them all in a ziplock, not in...

Re: Another New Guy Needs Help
I think the flutter is from the edge of the inner nozzle-like ring vibrating against the exhale. I remember this happening when I used the Swift FX. I would sometimes need to push from the back to pop the nozzle thing back into proper shape. I would also change the position of the mask or the positi...

Re: Another New Guy Needs Help
As Imatryin said, the size of the pillows can make a difference. I started out with small because that's what the sleep center put in the Swift FX mask. At that time I went along with anything they told me, so I had no reason to think I should switch them. After a while I felt there was too much res...

Re: skin rash
When I first started on CPAP I was given a mask that covered my nose (not sure which model). From day one it caused my face to break out where it came in contact with the mask. No matter how much I cleaned the mask or my face before going to bed I always woke up with irritation and painful, acne-lik...

Re: Replacement for Swift FX
I went from the Swift FX to the P10 and have no regrets at all. I worried about my head being too big since I rarely find a hat that fits. I worried about the flimsy headgear not holding the mask in place. My concerns were unfounded. The fit is actually very comfortable, and I have far fewer leaks t...

Re: Camping out with a CPAP
CapnLoki, it seems like camping is the situation generally mentioned for using a battery with a CPAP machine. The power has gone out at night here several times in the past 6 months, and I end up sitting in a recliner reading because I can't sleep. Is there a safe backup battery solution for use at ...

Re: Recommended CPAP travel machine
I fly several times a year (domestic flights), and I bring my regular machine with me as one of my carry-on items. I keep it in its own case. I never check it, and wouldn't. I would pass on a flight rather than check it as luggage. My main carry-on isn't large, so space hasn't been a problem for me....

Re: Cpap machine noises
Does the new tubing look the same as the old? ClimateLine tubing is darker than SlimLine and it has a wire inside that heats the tube. That keeps water vapor from turning to droplets on the inside. If the problem started after replacing the tubing, that is where I would look.

Re: Buying Machine and Mask without Insurance--Suggestions?
I'm not personally familiar with anything beyond nasal and nasal pillow masks. My mouth stays shut when I sleep, so I'm able to wear a mask that covers just my nostrils (nasal pillow mask). People who have trouble with mouth breathing while sleeping seem to either use a full face mask that covers no...

It's a shot in the dark, but since it seems you've tried everything else, have you checked to make sure the humidifier chamber is fully inserted and sealed?

Re: Buying Machine and Mask without Insurance--Suggestions?
This past December I bought my current machine, hose, and mask for $775 new from Lincare. I paid out of pocket and thought the price was reasonable. Recently, I paid about half of that for spare set of identical equipment (machine, hose, mask), also new, from craigslist. The type and model of mask c...

Re: New here and frustrated by the whole CPAP thing
I'm a nose breather and sleep on my back a lot, but I tend to switch to my side at least once in the night. I used to use the ResMed Swift FX mask and always had trouble moving to my side because the changing pressure on my face would cause loud leaks. The exhaust vent would also make noise if it go...

Re: First Machine - Resmet "AirSense" S10 Autoset
Some people wear a chin strap. Some people literally tape their mouth shut. My mouth just naturally stays closed and I get enough air through my nose. It seems like they wouldn't recommend a nasal mask for you if they saw your mouth come open during the sleep study. I personally want the smallest ma...

Re: First Machine - Resmet "AirSense" S10 Autoset
I don't think snoring necessarily means you will open your mouth when you start using a mask. I used to snore (before CPAP), but now my wife says I never do. I started out with a nasal mask and hated it. It seemed no matter how I tried, I couldn't get it to seal, and my face would also break out in ...
