Re: New to CPAP Treatment - a bit lost

Should I go for another detailed sleep study? My AHI has been slowly climbing up for the past 3 days, now at 5.4, and last night I was awakened twice by the large outburst of air probably due to the increment of pressure. I did not change any settings, or my sleeping position. But I think something ...

Re: New to CPAP Treatment - a bit lost

Hi all, Just an update I have been using the hybrid mask for about 10 days. First 5 days was not so good, my AHI fluctuates between 28 - 10. Then i decided to use double pillow (so I am resting on an inclined angle, raising my chest and head higher), and my AHI dropped to range between 1.6-2.8 I wou...

Re: New to CPAP Treatment - a bit lost

Hi all, unfortunately I do not have an iphone, so I can't use the application mentioned for the sleep position monitoring. But my new Respcare Hybrid mask came. Tried for 2 nights, and got awakened by leakage of air from nose pillow due to the high pressure. At lower pressure it fits nicely, but whe...

Re: New to CPAP Treatment - a bit lost

Hi Sleeprider, thanks for your advice. will get the Sleep position monitor app and try it out. this was last night's data. I think there are improvements, but i remember myself waking up a few times to adjust my mask for comfort and little leaks. Really need to see if there are any correlations betw...

Re: New to CPAP Treatment - a bit lost

Thanks Pugsy for your explanations and suggestions! Now I begin to understand more about what is happening. I will try to increase the min pressure for tonight and see if there are any improvements. For reduction in EPR, I tried 2 for a night and that night was not so comfortable, so if after tonigh...

Re: New to CPAP Treatment - a bit lost

Hi Mudrock, thanks for your advice. Last night i tried to move into my most comfortable sleeping position (side sleeping) and adjusted my mask accordingly. I think generally sleep was good, i got woke up a few times by leaks and high pressure, nonetheless, i managed to wear my mask on for more than ...

Re: New to CPAP Treatment - a bit lost

Hi all,

thanks for the advice and encouragement.

I am on my own without any support from local DME. I have ordered a hybrid mask to try, hoping that it will improve my current situation.

in the meantime i will just try to get use to wearing a mask to sleep!

Re: New to CPAP Treatment - a bit lost

Hi Pugsy, I think I was awake at those times probably, given that I remembered being awaken by either the whistling sound of the cushion and the airblasts..

Re: New to CPAP Treatment - a bit lost

Hi all, thank you so much for your advices. I have been trying to use the machine every night even though it does not allow me to fall asleep easily. I adjusted my mask and it felt good, until half way through the very high pressure pushed through and flabbing and whistling noises could be heard. Al...

Re: New to CPAP Treatment - a bit lost

Hi all, Finally after the festive seasons, my new mask came. It was a M size instead of L size. When I first wore it, I felt that it was a much better fit, almost no leakage in my opinion. I was having problems trying to fall asleep. I am not sure what is causing the problem, perhaps the mask, the '...

Re: New to CPAP Treatment - a bit lost

Hi all, Thanks for your replies! I changed my settings to Pressure min 6.6, max 11 Day 3: Wore my mask only to watch a movie at home, attempting to get used to the mask. Had a hard time getting to sleep with mask and machine on. Woke up several times in the night by either leaks or huge change in pr...
