Re: Some answers
Last night was horrible. Still having apneas plus drainage from the surgery, I suppose. They said it could take weeks to see improvement. Who knows! They are going to do a repeat sleep study. We will discuss that at our 6 week appt. I was just so hoping for even a bit of immediate improvement. Yes t...

Some answers
My son (14m) had his bronchoscopy, laryngoscopy, and adenoidectomy today. Originally I was super irritated because the ENT said his tonsils and adenoids were ok back in november at the office. Then she later said that she saw huge adenoids, but I have a hard time believing what she said because in t...

Re: Adenoids
I guess my thought too is if the adenoids are so bad, wouldn't there be other issues like repeated ear infections or sinus problems? Seems weird that they could be so large to cause such hell

Re: Adenoids
Yes the pulmonologist is a sleep med doctor, and yes we did have a sleep Study in the lab to determine severity. It's classified as extremely severe. Yes they did check for a deviated septum And did a scope in the office. They'll know more after the procedure next week. Our pulmonologist seems to th...

Re: Adenoids
I did search adenoids and start to wade through those. I was just wondering specifically about a child. Our ENT is going to remove my son's adenoids next week during a laryngoscopy and bronchoscopy. She thinks they could be the cause, but our pulmonologist thinks something else is going on for it to...

Re: Pediatric OSA/bronchoscopy
We got a referral to OT. we will be going next week as we are a "special case" lol. They originally were booking out to the end of feb. They said building a relationship with this OT that our pulmo recommended would be good, ESP if we do have to use a cpap machine in the future. thank you all for yo...

Re: Low iron and apnea
I'm not sure what his levels were exactly. I found the same info and did some googling. I called our pulmo today who said the iron could be something else and he wasn't concerned with it as far as apnea is concerned. I did call the GI doc I saw earlier to see what they thought. They left a message f...

Re: Low iron and apnea
Our doctor did prescribe iron for him. My son had some GI issues that no one could figure out. I wonder now if that was related to low iron. I really liked the GI we recently saw. I may follow up with him to see if there's some sort of additional testing. Thanks for the idea

Re: Low iron and apnea
For now January 12 because both dlctors are out of town. I asked if we could schedule it with different doctors, but our pulmo doc said that if he required surgery the ENT we would be working with would probably do it. Since we already have a relationship with her and she did the prior scope, he wan...

Re: Low iron and apnea
I've already asked about that. They said (and I've read) that it's not what they're suspecting he doesn't have stridor either

Re: Low iron and apnea
Our pulmo said that once they do the bronchoscopy they'll have a better idea of if the apnea is s symptom of something else. We've already been through allergy testing and GI appts. They've suggested a genetic appointment. Again, we don't have the luxury of just hopping up and going to whatever doct...

Re: Low iron and apnea
It didn't really make sense to me how it could cause apnea considering obstructive apnea Is caused by obstruction...I could see how it could cause sleep issues from exhaustion, but I couldn't connect the dots with it causing apnea
