Melatonin never helped me when I was struggling with sleep last year.
And neither did Zopiclone.
This year my sleep is much better. I've changed my eating habits drastically, and this seems to have helped in the sleep dept.

Julie, so true, I could well drive myself cuckoo trying to figure this out. Maybe I already have, actually!

Re: Another link between high fat diets and sleep apnea
When I was diagnosed last year I thought OSA was just a simple matter of my throat collapsing during my sleep due to either excess weight (my BMI was 25 when diagnosed) or structural abnormalities that had deteriorated/altered with age. Now that I've been researching this I realise that it is so muc...

Re: Another........."Died in their sleep" story
I knew a family whose little girl died at the age of 2 from a heart abnormality in her sleep, and they were just devastated. She had been a normal and active little girl until the night she died in her sleep, so it was a terrible shock. There was also the case of a young mother in my city who died i...

Re: Symptoms...Not so much?
Thanks for posting this because I've been wondering the same thing. Last year I was diagnosed with moderate OSA .... AHI of 16. I am currently waiting to have a follow up with the sleep specialist before being titrated for CPAP in May. As for symptoms, I simply don't have any. I sleep well these day...

Re: Can loss of weight cure sleep apnea
Lots more research needs to be done to figure out why only a relatively small percentage of the population develops OSA (when you look at statistics for weight .... the vast majority of folks in first world countries are overweight or obese these days and yet the majority do not develop OSA) OSA is ...

Re: My 2nd Sleep Study Results - AHI 78.6 - 67.0 Central Index .
I went back to your post last year where you provided details of the very first sleep study you had a few years ago that started you on CPAP. Your stats there were excellent compared with this. Back then your AHI was only 7. Your heart rate was much lower than this recent study, and your sleep effic...

Re: sleep apnea and it's effect on weight gain
I was floored to come across this study which indicates weight gain in patients treated with CPAP http://www.aasmnet.org/jcsm/ViewAbstract.aspx?pid=29161 Steven Park blogs about this here as well. http://doctorstevenpark.com/cpap-use-found-to-cause-weight-gain This result seems to confound the posit...

Re: Way to go you Idiots - APOLOGY ALSO
New poster here. When I came to CPAPtalk in November 2015 I felt overwhelmed, sick with anxiety and helpless with my new diagnosis of sleep apnea. Minutes after my first post, a few folks jumped in and helped right away. This was my initial experience with this forum. Pugsy was one of those who imme...

Re: Lost 87 lbs, sleep apnea remains, pressures about the same
What's really interesting is that although OSA seems to cause weight gain in many folks, XPAP treatment doesn't necessarily guarantee weight loss, despite resolution of O2 desaturations and dramatic improvements in AHI and sleep quality. Oddly, studies point to a small but significant weight gain in...

Re: OMG - such a bad night with centrals
Thanks Pugsy. It is exhausting me, both mentally and physically ...so that try as I may I can now only think about the number on the machine each night as I try to sleep, and am super aware of my breathing and sleep. I check the data half a dozen times a night, sometimes downloading 3 or 4 times a n...

Re: OMG - such a bad night with centrals
Pugsy it is almost as if something is happening to my breathing, and actually I am aware that I am taking long pauses when I am just trying to get to sleep. It is almost as if I am just not breathing as often. example of flow chart on Sunday night, almost the whole night looked like this, except for...

Re: OMG - such a bad night with centrals
Welllll, I took all the advice here and tried to chill about this. Many thanks for the wise advice and kind words. So last night my husband was snoring (ugh) and so I slept in the basement for part of the night ... but got some zzzzzsss. So the graph is fragmented but UGH. The dramatic increase in t...

Re: OMG - such a bad night with centrals
Thanks Jay, I really am going to try to take the advice offered here by you and Pugsy and just chill and relax about this. Anxiety is truly my worst enemy. I am going to have a lovely warm bubble bath , a glass of hot milk and read and relax on the sofa this evening and not be quite so obsessive abo...

Re: OMG - such a bad night with centrals
Here is a screenshot of CA events from the previous night. http://i.imgur.com/aiFgZ6R.png To me they look different to the ones from last night, but I could be wrong. Weird thing is that when the CA events were logged last night I was definitely awake and not asleep. So if they are CA events why am ...
