Re: My DME is charging double for my machine

I will only have to pay the deductible once, I believe. I got my machine on Nov. 28, and my deductible is covered for 2015. So I will have to pay it in Jan. 2016. The rest of the months I will have to pay around $64. Thanks for the supplement info!

My DME is charging double for my machine

My machine (Respironics BiPAP autoSV Advanced - System One) is a very expensive one. It is on cpapshop.com at special price for $3,145.00, with a regular price of $3,700.00. I don't know exactly what the DME is charging because it is through medicare, but it is around $7000. I'm curious, is this nor...

Re: My First Machine (it's an ASV), Not Feeling Very Confident

Thanks everyone for your help. I will set the BPM to auto. I called the DME about getting the nasal pillows and am waiting to hear back. I don't understand what the minimum PS does, but I will change it to 2 and see what happens. My ramp time is only 15 minutes, so I will change that to 20 or 25 min...

My First Machine (it's an ASV), Not Feeling Very Confident

This is my very first machine. During my titration study the doctor said I slept with the regular CPAP, but was having centrals that woke me up, so she prescribed an ASV machine which I just got the other day. I wish she would have started me on a regular CPAP, so that I could get used to it, but th...

Re: My First CPAP and ASV Experience

Thanks guys. I did talk to the doctor today and I will be a getting an ASV machine sometime in the next week. She said I did sleep two hours with it and had 20 minutes of dream sleep. She said when they tried the CPAP first, I slept but was still having centrals which woke me up, even though I don't...

Yeah, that's good news SimbaLion. Hopefully, if the doctor does end up prescribing an ASV, I will also be able to quickly adjust to it like you have.

Re: Anyone use ST (or ASV) + my first few nights experience w/ST

I have never used CPAP, but just had a titration study done yesterday first with a CPAP and then an ASV and that's what I experienced with the ASV, "violent and unnatural" and like the bellows thing you described. I barely slept at all with it (but did sleep with the regular CPAP), and I even took Z...

Re: My First CPAP and ASV Experience

Actually I just read something in another thread (linked below) that is similar to what I'm talking about with the ASV, it seems "violent and unnatural" and "feels like someone jammed one of those old fashioned bellows into my mouth and started rhythmically pumping". http://www.cpaptalk.com/viewtopi...

My First CPAP and ASV Experience

I had a sleep study done a few weeks ago at Washington University's (St. Louis) sleep center. I didn't sleep very well, but the doctor said I had both obstructive and central apneas. I don't know the numbers, but apparantly they weren't severe enough to start me using a mask during my first study, w...
