Re: CPAP Shortage

Don't expect to get a new machine every five years if you are on Medicare. They no longer provide new machines every five years. They only replace machines that are not working properly and and cost too much to repair. When I was at the sleep clinic last month, the nurse practitioner said the Resmed...

Re: Did I lose all my SD Card data? Need OSCAR help.

Depends on the doctor. The sleep clinic we use still checks the data on the cards. They have us bring in our machines to be checked every six months.

Have you checked eBay? I have purchased quite a few mask cushions and head gear there.

Re: Music in bipap

One of the microphones over the choir would pick up a local radio station and feed it into the church sound system. We finally figured out what was causing the problem and shortened the microphone cable.

Re: Medical Marijuana

Oklahoma approved medical marijuana a few years ago. They made it extremely easy to get a medical marijuana card. It seems like they are opening marijuana shops on almost every corner. There are three or four within a mile of my house. They have been talking about making recreational marijuana legal...

Re: CPAP supplies

We have good insurance coverage for our supplies, but I have found it easier to just purchase items on eBay, Amazon, and the forum sponsor cpap.com. When I find something on sale, I stock up on it and I have it hand when it is needed.

Re: Getting a Comfortable Sleep Setup

It appears I have a slightly deviated septum, and my ENT has suggested surgery to fix that. I have heard that won't really help with the sleep apnea though. But I guess I will find out if I decide to go through with it. I had a badly deviated septum fixed in 1996. Prior to that, I could never breat...

Re: Getting a Comfortable Sleep Setup

It sounds like your bottom straps may be a little too tight. Mask choice is a very personal thing. My wife and I both use the same kind of mask. She has stayed with the first mask she tried. I, on the other hand, have tried at least twenty different masks. When a new one comes on the market, I usual...

Re: How is my wife doing based upon these two screenshots from OSCAR

Even the "mediocre" night looks pretty good. Leaks are a little high, but if they aren't bothering her sleep, I wouldn't worry about them. The only thing I see is her flow limits graph is pretty active. Looking at the pressure graph, her pressure seldom drops much below 11, I would raise her minimum...

Re: CPAP Supplier

When my preferred local DME lost their Medicare contract for a couple years, I used militarycpap.com (Optigen). they will accept Medicare and Tricare For Life. I always talked to a real person when I dealt with them. We got my wife's machine through them. They brought the machine to the house and se...

Looks a lot like the Amara View mask. I'll probably try it once it comes available in the US. I used the Amara View for over a year and liked it pretty well.

Re: have tried so many masks

as long as insurance and the DME and your doctor allows it If I want to try a mask, I buy it and try it. I have never discussed my mask choice with the sleep clinic. If I see a new mask on the market that looks interesting, I buy it from the forum sponsor, cpap.com. If I like the mask, I keep it. I...

Re: Help with Oscar

Welcome to the group. I was your age when I started treatment six years ago, so I understand the old man syndrome. Hypopneas can interrupt your sleep cycle just as much as apneas can. By raising the lower pressure, you should be able to reduce the number of hypopneas.
