Re: is CPAP machine ok inside my checked bag?

I haven't flown with a cpap machine, but I used to fly with with a nebulizer all the time and I never checked it. I always carried it on the plane. I always used a hard side suitcase with a two in wide cloth strap around it. When I got to Cedar Rapids, one day, the only thing holding my clothes in t...

I took Ambien for my initial sleep study and my titration study. My sleep doctor prescribed two pills for me to use during these studies.

Re: Surgery Pros and Cons

When I was first diagnosed with sleep apnea, I opted for surgery. I had my tonsils and adenoids removed when I was five years old, so they were not a factor. I had a badly deviated septum which made breathing through my nose difficult. I could never breath through both sides of my nose at the same t...

Re: Can someone please help me

Use the Remzzz as a pattern and make mask liners out of an old tee shirt. These will be reusable. I put mine in a small knit bag and throw them in with the laundry.

Re: My CPAP Treatment Journey

The surgery for a deviated septum is not too bad. When they do it, they will usually insert splints into the nose. These are much better than the old method of packing the cavities with gause. I was able to breath better with the splints in than I could before surgery. I had other things done at the...

Re: Just replaced S9

I would keep it as a back up unit. You never know when your primary machine will quite. Mine died when it was less than six months old. It was replaced under warranty, but I was without a machine for three days. It died when we were out of town and was replaced as soon as we got home.

Re: beard & no beard before & after results w/ full face mask

When I did my initial sleep study, they had a hard time getting a mask to seal due to my beard. With a mask liner, they got a fairly decent seal. I decided to shave the beard off before I started treatment, and have never regretted it. I had the beard for over 32 years, and it was quite a change whe...

Re: Frustrated and Tired

I am a mouth breather and use the Amara View FFM. I've tried several other masks (3 FFM, 2 nasal pillows and all 3 hybrids) and so far I like this one the best. You have to be willing to experiment and find what works for you. masks are expensive if purchased new, but you can often find masks from o...

Re: Happy New Year Brothas and Sistas!

Happy and prosperous new year to all members of the forum. I had a big dinner planned including the traditional black eyed peas, but woke up at 2:00 this morning with congestion and breathing difficulty. Went to urgent care as soon as they opened and found out the flu bug got me. I had the flu vacci...

I have tried all three masks, and the only one I could get to seal properly is the Amara View. I started using it late last week.

Re: Frustrated at my witts end.

As Wulfman said, it is usually not an instant thing. After three or four months, I began to notice I could sit and work the crossword puzzle in the paper, watch TV or read and not fall asleep. I continue to have a few arrousals (usually less than two an hour), but this is much better than the 49 or ...
