Hubby and I live at sea level. When we spent the summer out west, he had to change his CPAP pressure from 8 to 10 or 11 depending on elevation. (Wish I had done the same but I was not yet on CPAP -- which could be why I felt like such shit while out there!)

Re: CPAP and RVs
I have a Resmed S9. I am looking at buying a RV and the constant thought is how am I going to dry camp without running the pesky generator all night and using my CPAP? Some of the newer coaches (expensive), have 4-6 house batteries attached to an invertor that solves the problem. But these are most...

I once knew a guy who had stroke-like symptoms with his migraines. Do you have a history of migraines?

Re: FullLife Full Face CPAP Mask
I own this mask as a backup in case I catch a cold and can't breathe through my nose. Earlier this winter I used it for about a week. The chinstrap did not keep my mouth shut; in fact, if I tried to keep my mouth shut, the mask would leak like crazy. Heads up though ... my DME told me this is a disc...

Re: Have dx, can't get rx
Find yourself a decent machine on craigslist...if unsure about what models do this or that...just ask. Later once you can get the RX and insurance provided machine the craigslist machine can be delegated to backup status or travel machine. This is exactly what I did, because my sleep doc was draggi...

Re: AirSense 10 Humidifier badly discoloured after first use
VERY informative. My tank is discolored too, and I've only ever used distilled water (and have never run it dry). I'll have to talk to my DME.

Re: If I never have another sleep study it will be too soon
My sleep study was poor but the follow up titration test was a disaster. It was so bad that they couldn't determine a pressure and wanted to try again. I definitely wasn't looking forward to that. Fortunately the PA that was the sleep specialist canceled the second titration and set me up with an A...

Re: If I never have another sleep study it will be too soon
Did anyone ever get a good sleep study? The first five hours of my (titration) sleep study were amazingly good quality sleep. When they diagnosed me (via home sleep study), they said my O2 sats were in the 60s for a significant portion of the night. BAD NEWS! So until I could go for my titration st...

Sounds like you already know.
If I were you I'd shave the goatee, use the FFM for a week and see what your numbers look like.

Re: ResMed AirSense 10 - LIKE NEW
You're giving up after "a couple of nights"? I'd like to encourage you to use this forum to help make your machine work for you, not to sell it off. Almost no one has a trouble-free experience adjusting to CPAP -- but those who follow through are overwhelmingly glad they did, because it's a life cha...

Re: What's the cause and effect of Weight and Sleep Apnea
Your heart is a muscle. And it can absolutely be damaged by untreated sleep apnea.Julie wrote:"if they have been damaged by years of apnea" - no such thing! Apnea makes you stop breathing, but does not have any effect on your muscles.

Re: DMEs
Hubby made the mistake of doing a re-supply "subscription" where they just send you stuff every couple months. (This was back before his employer stopped the good insurance and put everyone on a minimum $5000 deductible plan.) Anyway, Hubby ended up with several boxes of supplies that he has not yet...

Re: What's the cause and effect of Weight and Sleep Apnea
Doctors don't just tell you to lose weight for sleep apnea. If you are fat, they will tell you to lose weight no matter what the reason is for the visit. Joint pain, abdominal pain, headache, insomnia, cough, infections, you name it. It's as if the sight of fat impairs their ability to be objective....
