first 2 weeks with cpap
After years of heavy snoring and exhaustion, having tried many over-the-counter anti-snoring solutions and MRA, I’m on CPAP since almost 2 weeks. According to the sleep study my AHI is 15. I usually slept through the night and had some dreams as well, but was really tired all day. I have a Resmed Ai...

Re: New to the forum - brainfog
used some Lansinoh creme yesterday and changed the L-size pillows with M-size. Slept like a baby for 8 hours with an AHI of 1.2! So will stick with the Airfit P10 for now. As I sleep on my side most of the time I'm a bit reluctant to switch to a nasal mask like the Mirage FX they offered me. Thanks ...

Re: New to the forum - brainfog
After the first 3 nights with the Airfit P10 my nose is really sore and some skin is missing. Will call the hospital tomorrow for advice. Perhaps I have to switch to a nasal mask, but did not really like them due to the easy leaks and more bulk on my face. Would it help to use vaseline on my nose at...

Re: New to the forum - brainfog
Last night did not go well. I woke up at 4am, removed the mask to go to the toilet, but the strap came loose and couldn't fit it together and slept the rest of the night without it. I read the manual this morning and reassembly is easy after all. I also checked the nose plugs. I used the S size plug...

hypopnea just as bad as apnea?
According to my sleep study I have an AHI of 16. I was surprised that I have apnea at all as my wife never heard me snoring all the time, but never heard me stop breathing. I recorded many nights with an audio recorder and could not identify breathing stops either. According to my sleep study, 85% o...

Re: New to the forum - brainfog
So had my first night with the mask on. I changed the EPR setting to 3 and left the pressure on automode from 4 to 7. Exhaling is now not a problem at all. I slept relatively ok, woke up several times fighting with the hose and my nose feels a bit sore. If that won't improve I might try to switch to...

Re: New to the forum - brainfog
Hi Pugsy, Thanks for the link to the manual. I checked again and my device is not an Elite model, but an Autoset. They said it would only go to 7 when there is an obstruction and decrease back to 4 when possible. The EPR section reads: When EPR is enabled, the delivered pressure will not drop below ...

Re: New to the forum - brainfog
Back from the hospital with a brand new cpap kit. After trying several masks I choose the Resmed Airfit P10 pillow mask. The CPAP device is a Resmed Airsense 10 Elite with HumidAir. I was a bit worried that the device would make a loud humming noise, like the one my brother has, but fortunately it's...

Re: New to the forum - brainfog
Thanks, will try not to expect too much too soon regarding my brain fog. It would already be great if my snoring would be reduced; would make my wife happy
What do you recommend for a mask, a nasal mask or a intra-nasal pillow mask? I usually lay on my side.

Re: New to the forum - brainfog
I'm back, sorry for the late reply. I was indeed awaiting the effects of my MAD which I got 5 weeks ago. Good news is that it did not give me any problems with sleeping, sore jaw, etc. Bad news is that it did not do anything for my snoring, even on the most forward setting. Pretty disappointing for ...

Re: New to the forum - brainfog
Thanks, i had my blood tested and the TSH, sugar, etc was all fine, so no indication of thyroid issues. I did have a sleeptest done and the outcome was that I have 15 stops per hour on average, mainly when lying on my back. My doctor advised an MBA based on his finding during the endoscopy. I live i...

Hello, This is my first post, I'm a man of 45yrs and have issues with tiredness and lack of motivation since several years. Last year I had a lot of stress and anxiety due to a reorganization and search psychological help. To improve sleep i got a low dose Mirtazapine prescribed as well. This certai...
