Angelspeel, I love the Dutch and want to make it for the next celebration of the Queen's birthday. I have a very good friend and colleague that lives about a half hour away from Schipol Airport. I wish the coffee was as good here. Anyway, I understand the complaints about a slow healthcare system an...

Hhunt, If you have sleep apnea, losing weight will alter the amount of pressure that you require (possibly), but shouldn't change the need for CPAP. You may be able to "get away with it", but if you have sleep apnea you open are liable to incur damage to your body. I don't sleep on my stomach, so I ...

Snamvar, I spoke to a surgeon about all of the options available to me and he discussed the implants. The proceducre is entirely too new to have any meaningful data on long-term benefits. Unless you like the smell of cedar chips, I don't know why you would want to be a guinea pig. It's an unproven p...

Hey Sugar, I had chest pains when I woke in the morning, but it was due to among other things, struggling for breath all night long. However, it was never the chest pain that woke me in the night, it was something that existed when I awoke in the morning. Unless your night sweats a physical reaction...

Guest, I got my machine this week. They use both CPAP and BiPAP, but said that I responded well to CPAP so we started with that. I can't complain about my care; I had a sleep study, titration and picked up my machine all within six days. The three things that were of concern to the doctor were the n...

Rod, I have only used my machine for 3 nights, but have very few complaints about my ComfortGel mask; it covers my nose. However, I sleep on back and don't move during the night, so I am not sure how it will work for a restless sleeper or side sleeper. The first night I used the ramp-up function on ...

Gailzee, I was told to have another test in 1-year, unless there is a significant change in my weight. And before everyone stones me, I understand that being overweight does not cause sleep apnea; throw your stones at Dr. Phil. At any rate, changes in your weight (+/-15 lbs) may alter the amount of ...

Anyone with knowledge, I understand oxygen saturation, what i don't understand is the weight given to average saturation versus lowest saturation. I spent my entire night below 90% as I descended to 49% oxygen desaturation. If I could trouble you with a few more statistics: # of central apneas: 343 ...

rolpalmer, Most people with sleep apnea are mouth breathers because they are constantly gasping for air. I put myself in that category, until I started using my CPAP (only two nights). I seem to keep my mouth closed and my mask only covers my nose. If I open my mouth it feels like I just launched a ...

Question, What are the statistics/conditions that most alarm the doctors and result in your condition being considered severe? Is is the number of apneas? The duration of the apneas? The oxygen saturation (average or lowest)? Heart-rate? Hypopneas? I am sure it is a combination of all of the above, ...
