Re: Recommendations on recording oximeters?
I'm not stubborn about getting the ResMed one. Please just understand I am confused newbie and I certainly don't want to be ignorant to both of your excellent pieces of advice. I just assumed that it somehow was better, not just for the large pocketbook. It was made for the machine, so it would work...

Re: Recommendations on recording oximeters?
Thanks for the feedback and sorry for the bump on this thread. I just wanted to thank both of you for your help. I don't have the money right now, but I am going to invest at the very least in a recording oximeter, if not the kit. I just can't believe they charge you the same price for the flow unit...

Re: Need advice while waiting for the final diagnosis
You may find that your REM time increases with optimal therapy. I too had poor REM % and poor sleep efficiency during my sleep study but what is common is that our OSA is worse in REM...so the apnea events happen and it causes an arousal/wake up and we get kicked out of REM sleep only to have to st...

Re: ResMed AirFit F10 and Deviated Septum
Thanks for the feedback. I got a size M to try out for the past week and a half. It seems to have resolved the pressure sore. Here are some observations the design of the F10 between S and M sizes: • I haven't compared the headgear size-by-side, but I think the small fits slightly better for me (I h...

Re: Question about Humidification
Thanks for the suggestion guys. I will check out the Biotene gel if it remains a persistent problem for me. I was just more concerned I got a defective humidifier unit. I was playing around with the settings a bit. I noticed that with the ClimateLine temperature and humidity when configured separate...

Re: AHI after colonoscopy with Propofol
That's one of the reasons why I explicitly asked for heavy sedation, I didn't want to remember anything; but I didn't want to be intubated. When I heard they were only offering Versed for it, I rolled my eyes. "Conscious sedation... you won't remember a thing." I knew better than this, so my first e...

Re: Can pressure pulses cause CAs?
Hi Pugsy. Thanks for the explanation and clarification. You were very gentle on me, which I appreciate. Still so much to learn, but that is one thing I can cross off my list because your explanation makes perfect sense and you are well-seasoned in your knowledge. Glad you answered this and provided ...

Re: Need Help Acclimating (UARS)
@lindalam89: [not trying to be off-topic, but replying to your OP] My heart goes out to you. Seems like many doctors see RERAs as not significant to your treatment. Even my pulmonologist wasn't deeply concerned about me spending 20% of my time at less than 90% due to O2 desaturations, or the fact my...

Re: Can pressure pulses cause CAs?
Please bear in mind I'm new to this (please go easy on me vets ). But yes, pressure-induced central apneas can occur. The solution is either try lower pressure that still treats the obstructives/hypopneas, or you'll need a more expensive machine to treat the centrals. If everyone of your CAs are cau...

Re: AHI after colonoscopy with Propofol
I too had a ESG/Colonoscopy done recently due to unexplained weight loss. I am grateful that: a) I don't remember anything from the procedure, b) the results came back negative and everything looks good. As far as a differential in AHI before and after: Before, I was sitting at 3.5-4.0 as far as AHI...

Re: New Dreamstation Auto, new user. feels suffocating
I agree with DeadlySleep. From my experience, the first time I put the mask on, I was like... there is no way I can do this. It feels like you are hanging your head out the window as a passenger in a car. I found the less I thought about my breathing, the less I felt suffocated. If you breathe in st...

Re: losing weight
My experience has been the opposite. While I can't comment on trying to lose weight, I have lost 30 pounds without trying and haven't gained much back. Right now I'm 6 feet tall at 150 pounds and being treated for SA. Surely there is the possibility other health issues come into the picture if you h...

Re: Sleepyhead "reset" button missing
At least in the Mac version of SleepyHead, you can redefine the highlighted section. So if you narrow it down, you can just highlight the entire event section and that should take you more or less back into the normal view (drag from far left, to far right). Otherwise, I would go with what JDS74 sug...

Question about Humidification
I have a ResMed S9 AutoSet, APAP, 5-9 cmH2O. I have the H5i humidifier ClimateLine tubing, and use a FFM since I am a mouth breather and have a deviated septum for the past 11 years. In any case, I was wondering, I have the temp cranked up to 86, and the humidification set to 6.0, which is also max....
