Re: Purchasing a CPAP/APAP
Basically it depends on the prescription that your doctor says you need. He/She will need to be able to show what you need in order for you to be covered by the ADP. The base price you listed above is for the machine, a humidifier, a bag, a regular hose and a plain mask. If you want a heated hose or...

Re: Ontario users: +$200 for "upgraded machine" under ADP??
I just received a prescription for a APAP from my dr. I am an Ontario resident (OHIP coverage) and I have generous insurance benefits, under both my and my wife's employer. I do however, have an issue with being ripped off - or with my insurance company being rippled off. Can somebody please confir...

Fisher & Paykel Eson 2
I've just come back from CPAP Clinic in Toronto and I bought the Eson2 to try out. It looks pretty identical to the Eson except having a smaller top forehead piece and the diffuser is now washable. Hopefully my test tonight will work well! EDIT: It seems that this mask isn't available in the US yet,...

Re: Medigas CPAP options
It really depends on what your prescription is for. Until you know what your prescription is for, looking at a certain machine/brand is irrelevant. The government will only fund you dependent on what your sleep test scores are. I'm from Ontario, and I purchased at a Medigas. I paid the standard amou...

Re: Dreamstation CPAP pro with humidifier and heated tube
If you are in Ontario, you will not get an APAP under the ADP discount unless you qualify for an APAP. If you want an APAP and you don't qualify, the only option is to pay for one out of pocket. BTW, the "mistake" that listed the APAP as a CPAP won't fly - most providers will know that they won't ge...

Re: Newbie - considering AirSense 10 purchase - No WiFi ???
Also being from Ontario, you should read up on the ADP rules if you want to purchase the machine with OHIP discount. The likelyhood of you getting an APAP with OHIP and/or health insurance discount is completely dependent on your titration results. If you don't qualify for a APAP based on your titra...

Re: Newly diagnosed, trying to stay positive
Hi Rambling, I appreciate your comments. Unfortunately I haven't even seen a sleep specialist yet, and the wait times I alluded to earlier for CPAP are for those who have already seen a sleep specialist, so the wait for CPAP for me could be closer to June at this rate. I am a person who likes to ge...

Re: Newly diagnosed, trying to stay positive
The cheapest option will actually be to get your doctor to write a prescription for a rental APAP while you wait for your titration. This is because: (1) Your private insurance should cover the cost of the rental. Even if it doesn't, most stores will credit the cost to the final machine purchase onc...

Re: Newly diagnosed, trying to stay positive
Good point about the pricing (with ex. rate fig'd in). Yeah - the exchange rates have shifted the prices significantly. As another example, I am about to get my Aircurve10 Auto VPAP using OHIP. I have been looking for a backup machine as well. I thought that it would be cheaper in the US than in Ca...

Re: Newly diagnosed, trying to stay positive
Hi - If you can post your study results here there are experts who will advise you how to set up a machine (and advise which type is best), then you can buy online (get your MD to write a script for the machine you want when you've learned which would be best) and after talking to your insce. co. s...

Re: Stuffy Noise, Bloating and Bothered
Couple more questions: (1) What is the pressure that is set up on your machine? You state it is auto but there is still a range like 4-20, or 8-16, etc... (2) Based on your pressures and your AHI scores, you could have your machine set too high. But the only way to find out is to state what the pres...

Re: Stuffy Noise, Bloating and Bothered
A few things:
(1) what machine are you using? (add it to your profile)
(2) are you using a humidifier?
(3) what is your current pressure?
(4) have you taken a look at your stats on Sleepyhead?
If you answer those four questions, people here can help you a lot easier.

Re: Cpap question for my dad
The only advice that I can give you is to schedule a proper appointment with his doctor.
It seems odd that you can attest that he has sleep apnea yet then attest that there are no other conditions that he has that aren't serious, especially since he hasn't seen a doctor in years.

Re: Canadian CPAP suppliers?
CPAPclinic.ca is also pretty cheap, apparently. With the Canadian dollar in the tank, there are not really much that is significantly cheaper in the US than in Canada. Machines are not actually cheaper. There are vendors selling a Resmed Airsense 10 Autoset for just over $1000 CDN. CPAP.com sells it...
