Re: Was I diagnosed correctly?
Gcfcos , An pulse-oximeter - the thing on your finger used on its own can point to sleep apnea. But it is suggestive, rather than conclusive. A more reliable test - which can be carried out at home - is a three-channel poly-somno-graph (PSG), or 'sleep study'. Patients are issued with a small canva...

Re: ResMed Airfit P10 CPAP Mask
I've had sinus/allergy issues most of my life. The P10 gives me very bad sinus headaches no matter how I adjust the humidity and temperature. It's frustrating because it's the only mask I can use that doesn't seem to leak air into my eyes. I take Benadryl and Claritin and use saline rinses as well a...

Re: Bringing or Obtaining Distilled Water on a Cruise?
I did a 10 night cruise on the Celebrity Equinox in December. I completed the special needs form and received one gallon of distilled water and an extension cord (no charge). The nearest outlet was across the room at the desk/sitting area. My cpap cord did reach there (barely), but it was easier to ...

Wesley Y Also Posted As: (a64pilot) (AuSable River Rat) (CocoPazzo) (Sal_In_Ga) (Shinino) This puzzles me. The Au Sable River is 900 miles by road from Atlanta, GA. I didn't post as this person and have no idea how anyone could post as me. By the way, I live on the AuSable - in northern Michigan. N...

Re: tips for nasal congestion from allergies?
I have severe allergy issues. I take allergy pills and do saline rinses. When I first started CPAP my sinuses became so congested the mask couldn't get the air through the congestion (even after all the allergy meds and rinses). What finally worked for me was raising the minimum pressure higher. My ...

Re: Sleeping on your stomach with a mask?
I'm a stomach sleeper too. I had zero success with a mask until I switched to a buckwheat pillow. Using that I can create a little spot for the mask to sit so it doesn't get dislodged while sleeping. Even then, I have had zero success using a FFM. I've only been able to use a a nasal pillow mask (Re...

Re: Super new...please tell me you get used to this
To the OP, I never intended to hijack your thread. I apologize if I did. I sincerely hope you have better luck with this than I have had. In response to Chicago Granny's comment, I have changed nothing in my sleep hygiene since I started cpap. I felt good before cpap (wasn't tired, didn't wake with ...

Re: Super new...please tell me you get used to this
The sleep doctor can't understand why I feel miserable since my numbers "are good". What "numbers" is the doctor talking about? Why aren't you generating the data and reports and doing your own analysis or asking for help in this forum? It's what all the senior members do, and most of the new membe...

Re: Super new...please tell me you get used to this
Good luck. I'm on my fourth month and it's still a constant struggle. I can sleep with the cpap but wake up every morning feeling absolutely exhausted. The sleep doctor can't understand why I feel miserable since my numbers "are good". My primary physician told me to return the equipment to the DME ...
