Re: First night at home on cpap
My first night with CPAP was similar to yours. I suspected for a very long time that I might have OSA, but also read a lot of information where CPAP had not been successful. Between living in very rural areas where the nearest sleep lab was over 2 hours away, and working night shift, I did not pursu...

Re: Sleep Apnea & Mental Health
I've never been diagnosed with a mental health problem, but have seen a dramatic improvement in my mood since starting xPAP almost 4 months ago. I had forgotten how much I like music! For years, music had become little more than a tool to keep myself alert while driving. Without xPAP, there is no wa...

Re: Not really diagnosed; does this ResMed data help?
My sleep study showed an AHI > 80. If I have a treated AHI < 3, I get excited! I'll never understand the people that think they are dying with AHI < 1. If you think sleep hygiene is bull, you will never have a good night's sleep, and you will be tired. Good sleep hygiene kept me functional for decad...

Re: What do I do with complaints about DME?
Be sure to write your CongresScum and complain about the providers medicare uses. Your CongressScum doesn't really care, but nothing will happen unless enough voters complain. I was involved in politics for several years, and have friends in both the US majour parties as well as the usual minour pa...

Re: Used CPAP for 1 month, results unchanged and tired
I went from 82 AHI to 30 AHI my first night with APAP and thought that I had slept for a week. My brain went into overdrive for two weeks after not having REM sleep for years. An excellent night for me is any that are < 3 AHI. Oh to be only 217# again... Any chart that calls me obese for > 200# is n...

Re: cpap machine with stainless steel humidifier
I've always wanted an all stainless steel bathroom with a big floor drain and a high pressure hose. I could clean the entire room every day in 30 seconds.Janknitz wrote:What machine has a stainless steel humidifier--I want one! I'm NOT happy about breathing all the plastic.

Re: cpap machine with stainless steel humidifier
That stainless steel is dangerous stuff. Good thing it is only used in every food plant that I have ever visited, every commercial kitchen, and every hospital operating theater. Thank you, CSPI! /sarcasm off

Re: Sleep apnea caused by PTSD
It is simply easier to prescribe pills and more pills. That is what they were trained to do. If pills don't work, open the patient up and root around and see if something needs removed or sewn up. Anything else is sheer quackery... /sarcasm off

Re: AHI after colonoscopy with Propofol
I'm planning on having Dr. Leonard "Bones" McCoy scan my guts with a Tricorder when it is time for me to have a colonoscopy. My uncle, who is obviously a sadist, said his was fun.

Re: OT: Facebook Privacy Hoax - AGAIN
My cousin demonstrated her gullibility for hoaxes like this yesterday. I guess it explains why she ended up in a shotgun wedding after graduating from high school. I love the free unicorn in the mail post! My cousin would probably take the day off from work so that she can feed and water her unicorn...

Re: Semi-permanently disabling modem in ResMed Airsense 10
Even though I have the modem fully functioning, I still got a robocall yesterday from my DME asking me questions that could be answered by looking at my downloaded data. When I have some time, I might just give them a call and ask what gives.

My wife and I lived in Loveland CO for one year before notice was given that they were closing my plant soon, and were starting to reduce headcount. We loved living there, and I regularly look for opportunities to move back out there. Sadly, the market for people with my skillset is flush so they ha...

Sounds like an addict that has been cut off, to me, and now looking for techniques to get a new 'scrip for pills.
I was afraid that my GP would prescribe me amphetamines to use until I finally got my CPAP.

Re: Well, it was fun while it lasted...
Dad takes lots of naps during the day. That's his excuse why he doesn't need a CPAP. He's always fully rested before he goes out on his routes, and naps while his trailer is unloaded. He used to tell me when I was a teenager that I was sleeping my life away because I would sleep 12 hours every night...

While I do not have elderly parents, they just qualified for Medicare this year, being the eldest and the child that has made the most effort to live as close to my parents and childless aunt and uncle as possible, I am concerned about their well-being and feel a sense of responsibility for all of t...
