Re: Newbie w/questions: Vygon/Boussignac CPAP, etc.

OK, so, despite all the negative nellies, I bought the mask (next time I'll order the largest one), an air pump (not a compressor), a copper-mesh based heat and moisture exchanger, had to add a second air source (nebulizer pump we had from a bout of pneumonia) and hooked up numerous configurations. ...

Ok, bad joke.

Overall it looks good. I don't know how much it would cost but if you could hook up for a month you would probably have enough information to dial in your therapy.

Re: Newbie w/questions: Vygon/Boussignac CPAP, etc.

One more thing to consider is how you are going to monitor your progress... Depends on the data necessary. O2 sat can be monitored just as easily as they do at the hospital, the testing clinic and the EMS, with an LED and photo-detector, same as NASA developed in the original space program. How fan...

Re: Forum Administrators- Do your JOB,

I have to admit, as one of the newest members (This being massive Post #8), I have yet to see any bullying. My whole 1st thread is about a system not readily available, as well as my intent to modify said device. I suspect, given the 600+ views, that some are possibly watching to see if I kill mysel...

Re: Newbie w/questions: Vygon/Boussignac CPAP, etc.

Wearing a mask, in and of itself is not going to be a problem. I've had military training as well as civilian use of supplied air, in super-clean industrial environments. The limit I ran into, on inhalation was a physical limit. The supply bottomed out and had to rebuild, before allowing more to flo...

Re: Newbie w/questions: Vygon/Boussignac CPAP, etc.

I was hitting some sort of limit in the machine. It was like hitting the limit of a respirator, before they adjusted the flow. I don't know how better to describe it. Just a normal breath and there wasn't enough air. A sort of bump, like popping a valve. I hit it with almost every breath. you may n...

Re: Newbie w/questions: Vygon/Boussignac CPAP, etc.

I do not believe I will need O2, at least not immediately, though I may have undiagnosed COPD. The tech said 31-32 events per hour. I have chronic sinusitis, have had sinus surgery, they did not run humidity for the sleep study, which is why my sinuses dried out, cracked and bled, which is why I ask...

Re: Newbie w/questions: Vygon/Boussignac CPAP, etc.

I give. I asked the questions I did, because I was looking for answers. There OUGHT to be a mask roughly the size of a standard O2, or Nebulizer mask, by now. The Boussignac valve can use air, O2, or both, but uses lines like a standard O2 line, or Nebulizer air line, which can be routed up the head...

Re: Newbie w/questions: Vygon/Boussignac CPAP, etc.

In the hospital, they have 2 sources. O2 and Air, both applicable to the Boussignac valve. Air supply generally being compressed air, not bottled. As long as it is filtered and regulated, it shouldn't matter. My point is that the large hose is unnecessary, as is the crappy connection/swivel placemen...

Newbie w/questions: Vygon/Boussignac CPAP, etc.

Howdy from Texas! Haven't got my 1st unit, yet, but completed the sleep study. Something like 32 interruptions per hour, iirc. I don't know how that rates, on the scale, but I also breathe slower than average, so I set the stupid respiration-rate monitors off ALL the time, when I'm in the ER, or whe...
