Re: CPAP ALTERNATIVES?

Hi Marissa, I just posted to your other thread. I think there's some confusion and a lot of discussion about central apnea and ASV -- and it may not be relevant to your situation at all. A central apnea is when you stop breathing but your airway is not obstructed. A few central apnea events are no ...

Re: Sleep Apnea Exercises?

lol, you don't want to share the word you'd substitute for "caution?" OK, so forget about having Central Apnea, needing ASV and all that for now -- at this point there is no indication that it will be relevant for you. I explained some more in your other thread about the difference between having s...

Re: Sleep Apnea Exercises?

Sorry if I'm confusing…. TBI and lack of sleep don't exactly mix well.

Re: Sleep Apnea Exercises?

I think zoocrew thought that you'd already had one titration study. I understood (in your other thread) when you said "second titration study" that you meant a second study, which was to be the titration study, and that the first study was the diagnostic study. Did I get that right? If so, it's not...

Re: CPAP ALTERNATIVES?

Hi again. Re: your brain not telling your body to breathe, that's an issue that some of us apnea patients have to deal with, called central apnea (called Central because it involves the central nervous system). Obstructive Apnea is when your airway tissues collapse, making it physically impossible ...

Re: Sleep Apnea Exercises?

I've HAD a sleep study, two months ago…. I'm still without a CPAP. I went to the doctor today only for her to tell me she won't give me a CPAP without me having a second titration study because of something to do with my TBI and the wrong pressure triggering my brain to stop signaling my lungs to b...

Re: CPAP ALTERNATIVES?

The problem with me using a CPAP (as far as the doctor said…) is that if a certain part of my brain was injured in my TBI that using a CPAP at a wrong pressure could basically trigger my brain to not signal my lungs to breathe? As in, my brain won't tell my lungs to exhale, so I will stop breathing…...

Re: Do you use TriCare?

Hi everyone! I'm new to this forum. I use TriCare, I believe I have TriCare for life and I also have Medicare because I was injured while I was in the military.
