Re: Different machines Different AHIs

Not surprised about you're seeing different AHI numbers, after all they are different machines. Sorry I cannot offer an analysis just my own experience. I've used a Philips DS1 and a ResMed AS10 this past year and found the Philips to consistently show 50-100% higher AHI, with machine settings as co...

Re: Insurance changed my CPAP equipment (presumably without notifying my doctor)

I wonder the reason why they changed it to the AS11 is for the convenience of having the modem. From my understanding, while there are some AS10s with 4G modems, it appears all AS10s being sold now are Card-to-Cloud units. With the current chip shortage, ResMed is saving their modems for the AS11 an...

Re: Are There Any Decent Travel CPAPs?

For those of you who may have received a replacement Philips DS2 (I just did about a month ago) and relegated it to be stored in a closet, I found that its slimmer design and smaller power brick makes it an idea travel machine, at least for people like me who always require humidification. Yes dedic...

Re: Resmed 11 humidity pot runs out of water

From my experience, bedroom humidity is a big factor in how much water you use on the machine. If I use a room humidifier in my bedroom, my machine water usage drops considerably.

Re: Travelling with the Airsense 11 machine ? Is it viable ?

Is it viable? Of course it is. Personally I'm always paranoid about traveling with my main (or only) machine. If I break it while I travel, I won't have anything to use when I get home. So I always made sure I travel with my back-up unit. My main unit always stays at home.

Re: How do I know if I am a mouth breather?

When I started using CPAP with a fixed 7cm setting, mouth breathing was not an issue even with a nasal pillow. 7 years later after another sleep study, my set pressure went to 7-15cm and that started my struggle with mouth breathing. I would wake up with a totally dry mouth - that's how I knew I was...

Re: Just Received Two Replacement DS1s via Recall - Has Anyone Else Received DS1s Instead of DS2s? New or Refurbished?

In June 2021 and Sept 2021 I registered my DS1 and Sys One respectively. In early Dec 2022 I received a DS2 to replace my Sys One and a week later a brand new (Nov 22 build date) DS1 to replace my old DS1. I immediately returned both recalled units. I believe refurbished units are identified as such...

Re: Replacement v Return Payment for Philips recalled CPAPs

I had a old System One that got in 2011 and I used for 7 years until I replaced it with a Dreamstation 1. Eventually used it as my travel and backup unit. When Philips announced the recall, I found that it was one of the recalled units so I registered it online in September 2021. A few months ago (a...

Re: UPS question: does the Airsense 10 require true sine wave power?

…..If CPAP machines required sine wave power output, the innumerable users that don't use a sine wave UPS would have already posted about their CPAPs prematurely wearing out or malfunctioning. Very few electronic devices "require" sine wave output. Unless you lose power very often, how much time do...

Re: UPS question: does the Airsense 10 require true sine wave power?

As I mentioned earlier. I've been using modified sine with AS10 for a few years now with no issues. I'd post what battery I'm using, but I don't want to spam the board. Do you mean your CPAP machine is running 100% of the time on the modified sine wave battery power, on extended camping/off the gri...

Re: Use My CPAP or the Medicare-Paid One?

Like someone else said, use the new machine. If Medicare is paying for it, they want to see compliance reports, meaning they want to make sure it’s being used a minimum 4 hrs per night, etc., otherwise they will take it away from you. I have Medicare advantage when I turned 65 and got a new machine....

Re: CPAP Travel Tips?

Aside from a small power splitter, I always bring a 6 foot extension cord. Sometimes there is just no convenient/easily accessible outlet near the night stand where you want your CPAP. Regarding water, good thing this past several years, decent hotels in almost any part of the world always provide y...

Re: Do you have a back up CPAP incase of emergencies?

Is there a website that I can buy a used/refurbished resmed? I looked on ebay and didn't seem to find any eBay is not allowed to sell CPAP machines being a medical device. Your best bet is Craigslist or FB marketplace. Just a warning, there are lots of scammers out there, best to do a local face to...

Re: Do you have a back up CPAP incase of emergencies?

My travel CPAP (Transcend 2) was my back up. Since purchasing a ResMed 10, now I also have a defoamed DS1 as a back up. Hoping to get a DS2 which will become my travel and back up. Also at least 2 sets of everything all the time.
