Re: Great AHI But Difficulty Breathing Question
Thanks everyone. I went to set the PS to 4.0 today and discovered that the current settings were set to Max IPAP = 25, Min EPAP = 12, and PS = 2.0. Does that change anything? (I did raise the PS to 4.0) Also, my machine is set to VAUTO...but I'm not sure what that means exactly. Also, I'm starting t...

Re: Great AHI But Difficulty Breathing Question
Should I bump up my minimum setting up to 14 or 16 possibly and give that a try?

Re: Great AHI But Difficulty Breathing Question
I'm not using the ramp feature. It is turned off.
One thought I just had, I have not replaced my air filter for a while. Could that be it? I wouldn't think so though.

Re: Great AHI But Difficulty Breathing Question
Forgot to mention... My original Settings were Mode = VAUTO, Max IPAP = 14, Min EPAP = 10, PS = 2.0 which did not work well for me. I was getting consistent AHI readings of 4, 9, 11 & 22. The new Settings that have been working well for me are Mode = VAUTO, Max IPAP = 25, Min EPAP = 12, PS = 2.0. I ...

Great AHI But Difficulty Breathing Question
I've had my ResMed Air Curve 10 BiPap machine for almost a year. My AHI is always less than 1.0 these days, I have a mask I really love with no leaks, I wake up feeling pretty great, etc, etc. But I feel like I'm trying too hard when I breathe in. Like I should be assisted more by the machine when I...

Re: Help with positional leaks, please
BleepingBeauty - The mask you recommended, can you breathe through your nose OR your mouth with that mask? Also, can anyone provide a link to where I can purchase the Soft Cervical Collar? I've tried 3 full face masks and 1 nasal pillow mask, and I'm still getting way too many leaks. I thought the n...

Re: Good AHI - Mask Leaks Still Important?
Thanks again everyone. I will probably purchase that pillow and hang the hose from the headboard of my bed to see if that helps. Here is the best AHI I have ever had to date. My wife just told me that she witnessed these leaks that night, and they were "mouth leaks". So I'm going to try a chin strap...

Re: Good AHI - Mask Leaks Still Important?
Thanks everyone for the great advice. I truly appreciate it. I'm actually trying a nasal pillow mask for the first time. Last night was pretty rough but I think this might be the best solution if I can get used to it. I was surprised that I still get leaks while laying on my side though. I thought t...

Good AHI - Mask Leaks Still Important?
My AHI is down to pretty decent numbers now, but I'm still dealing with mask leaks. Usually in the 10% to 25% range in SleepyHead. Since my AHI's are good, should I care? What is the main problem with large mask leaks? Is it that SleepyHead can't report Apneas when that is happening? I'm on my 3rd t...

Re: AHI Going Up With New BiPap Machine
I know man. Finding the right mask has been a struggle for me. I tried the ResMed Quattro FX and it leaks above my nose for some reason. I tried the ResMed Quattro Air and it was super light and awesome, but no matter how tight I pull the straps it leaks really bad everywhere. It also plugged my ear...

Re: AHI Going Up With New BiPap Machine
Palerider - I changed those settings and had an AHI of 1.92 last night. THANK YOU for recommending those settings. Question...when I went in to change the settings, VAuto mode was already selected and Pressure Support was already at 2. You said my pressure support was at 4. Did you see that on my Sl...

Re: AHI Going Up With New BiPap Machine
I did during my first sleep study and I just couldn't breathe. I tried the nasal pillows and the type that completely covers your nose. They both lasted about 5 minutes at the most. The sleep tech thought I might have a deviated septum. BUT, I wasn't used to any masks or machines at that point. Mayb...

Re: AHI Going Up With New BiPap Machine
Interesting. The only other thing I can think of is that I'm trying to be a little healthier overall, and I just started cutting back on alcohol 4 days ago. Does that have any affect on sleep apnea? If it does, I figured that it would make it better, not worse. My current mask is butchering the brid...
