Re: Pressure loss with heater/humidifier

Ah, Apex is the company involved in all the patent disputes with Resmed. You can see some stories about it here: https://www.google.com/search?q=apex+cpap+lawsuits&ie=utf-8&oe=utf-8 Not many people around here have them because the experienced users here would always recommend buying machines that ...

Re: Pressure loss with heater/humidifier

One thing I have not told you is that I live in the boondocks of Northern Thailand where there is no service capability. I am traveling at the moment, but as soon as I get home I propose to build a manometer to check out the very issues you are raising. My confidence in the accuracy of the machine, ...

Re: Pressure loss with heater/humidifier

I'm already surprised. When I first started using the machine in April the humidifier was absolutely essential. I would experience extreme dryness until I got the settings right - one below the maximum. Now, I'm getting some dryness, but still at a tolerable level. The biggest issue now is adjusting...

Re: Pressure loss with heater/humidifier

Thanks everyone for your comments. Firstly there is no doubt about the pressure drop. It is really severe. Without this discovery I was already having doubts that I was receiving the correct pressure and had determined to build a manometer. This has cemented that determination. I will also follow th...

Re: Pressure loss with heater/humidifier

The machine is an Apex XT Sense CPAP. In my reading of the specs I've never discovered anything about any bypass as suggested. I had occasion to use it without the humidifier for a couple of nights last week and was shocked by the difference, hence these questions. Given the replies I have received ...

Re: Pressure loss with heater/humidifier

A heated humidifier. I have now dismantled and thoroughly cleaned the humidifier and checked for leaks and obstructions. Found none. To make sure it is not all in my imagination I asked my wife to check (hand-felt pressure at the mask end of the hose. She said "strong/not strong" to the comparative ...

Re: Pressure loss with heater/humidifier

It's not the sound but rather the very obvious extra volume of air exiting the hose into the mask - feel it onto my hand, most noticeable when I put the mask on. It's a VERY different experience. If it is true that there should not be any reduction in volume/pressure then I'll go looking for an obst...

Re: Sleeping with a partner who wears CPAP

I have no idea what Is being discussed here as regards "venting", but then again I have only ever used one type of mask at home _ a cloth nasal mask from Sleepweaver where, according to the previous post, venting is not an issue, provided you can conquer leakage issues, which I admit, took me a few ...

Re: Bringing CPAP (Bi-Pap) into Thailand

I live in Thailand and travel in and out regularly. I carry my little machine case on board as an extra uncounted item. Never once have I been questioned about it or have they even opened it. With all my Thailand travels over 15 years I can quite assuredly say that the talk about problems with Thail...

Pressure loss with heater/humidifier

I have recently noticed that when the humidifier is attached to my Apex Sense CPAP machine, the exit air pressure is significantly less. My machine is set to my prescription pressure of 7. I have no idea if it is normal for a humidifier to reduce the pressure or if indeed the machine has been preset...

Re: Apex software

I obtained the Apex software (Easy compliance 3) simply by contacting the company (http://www.apexmedicalcorp.com/contact.php?lang=en-global) However don't bother with the customer support line - they never reply. I used one of the other (non-Taiwan) email addresses for my region. They agreed to sen...
