Re: Question about mask,
Depending on how many hours you've put in, I'd give it a few more days of trying before jumping to any decisions. Mouth venting is a problem that everyone experiences a little bit in the beginning. Until you've had several hours to adjust to the pressure and how it makes you breath a little abnormal...

Re: Third sleep doc; 3rd study upcoming
Be weary of doctor's who don't keep all manufacturer's on the table. The doctors that do this are usually ones that are doing it for money - is he going to be the one providing the new machine/equipment and bill for it directly? A sleep doctor should understand that every patient is different and sh...

Re: Gasping for air
Usually when people use the term "gasping" I find it associated to mouth venting. If you're using a nasal mask, try getting a full face mask or chinstrap. They are both designed to treat mouth venting - chinstrap to PREVENT it, full face to ALLOW it. If you're already on a full face mask, it's going...

Re: FFM Vs. Nose Pillows - Is there a pressure difference?
I always call it the garden hose effect. If you have a hose without nozzle and have the water flowing freely, it just pours out the end. Take your thumb and block part of the hose, and you have a nozzle spraying water with force. But you didnt change the water pressure from your house, right? Nasal ...

Re: How do I do this?
To address the study - was it actually a CPAP that you took home? Or another home unit? If it didnt have a mask interface delivering air pressure, it may have been an HST (Home Sleep Test) device. They CAN be accurate, but usually don't tell the whole story. I'd consider seeing a sleep specialist an...

Re: First sleep study consultation tomorrow
It sounds like the advice you need is going to come from your doctor at the upcoming consultation. Having a medical history means that only a physician should really provide the type of advice I feel you're looking for. Keep in mind that the diagnosis as "Moderate OSA" only takes one data point into...

Re: HOLY HOT
Usually the swelling of the eyes (or commonly addressed as bags under the eyes) is going to be a mask fit issue. You may need a smaller/less bulky mask, or consider pillows to pull the mask completely off your skin. The pillows style will also cut down on the amount of air that's sitting on your ski...

Re: ASV, Jaw Drop, Nasal Pillows, and LL
If you have full access to your therapy data, consider looking at the detailed data and seeing where your pressure maximums are going. If you're on ASV there may be more going on than to look only at the leak data. If you're happy with pillows, maybe consider using a chinstrap with the interface to ...

Re: Frustrated: Need help with pillows
Try out any of these options: 1. The P10 is a good mask but lacks velcro adjustments for these kinds of problems. The design of the mask is to pull the two straps (back/top of head) closer or further apart for the adjustment to the fit. If it's drooping, try pulling the two straps closer together. T...

Re: Just had my first 'fitting' for CPAP machine...very sick now
It's not uncommon for some people to experience this from the study, and occasionally at home. As Pugsy says, CPAP rhinitis is not an uncommon effect on patients that are new to CPAP. As another user mentioned, you'll fair much better while at home. Just make sure to take notes (when your supplier c...
