Surgery sounds kinda drastic. (If it's necessary, it's necessary.) I know there are mouthguards you can buy that are designed to do the same thing -- keep your lower jaw extended a bit while you sleep.

I had my first sleep study around 2004. When the guy came to my house to bring the machine and show me how to use it, he gave me a couple invaluable pieces of advice.
