Re: Can't get AHI below 38

My Amara View mask also tends to leak, but does so less if I wash it (with very gentle soap) frequently and wash my face before going to bed. I also note that the soft part of the mask around the nose stretches over time and may not make it 3 months before needing replacement. If your machine has a ...

Re: Amara View mask leaks

At 2.5 months into CPAP, the nose cushion on the Amara View mask is so stretched that it wakes me with leaks every night. Unfortunately, Pad-a-cheek doesn't make a liner for this mask yet. It will probably be difficult to do since the soft part enclosing the nose is the part that leaks most. My DME ...

Re: New to anti anxiety medicine- need advise

My daughter is on similar medication. If the doctor has prescribed that the medicine be used "as needed", you might wait until you have largely recovered your sleep deficit, then start trying to sleep without it on weekends when you can afford to sleep in if you fail to sleep until 3 am and need to ...

Re: Not feeling rested in the morning...

It is possible that when the OP says "the machine isn't reporting leaks", he means that there isn't a on the machine screen. That only happens with massive leaks (> 30% of the time, I think, as I learned from you folks). I can verify that there can be large leaks that disrupt sleep on this machine w...

Amara View mask leaks

Hi folks, I thank you all again for your amazing help during the past two weeks. My AHI has settled down into a region from 1.5 - 3, but I am still having some annoying mask leakage problems. Basically, I am waking 3 - 5 times per night to adjust the Amara View mask as it inevitably starts leaking a...

Re: newbie with Amara View mask

The nasal slot/"nose cushion" is single wall. The nose fit is kind of finicky; it leaks if I move my nose or touch the wall.

I think I have the leaks under control for now. AHI < 2 for the last two nights!

Re: great forum to join. also new patiant

Back pain between the shoulder blades can be the beginning of aortic dissection. Unless your cardiac check specifically ruled that out, call your doctor to report this symptom. Hopefully, it is just a strained muscle which will heal in a few days, but best to be sure.

Re: newbie with Amara View mask

Many thanks! My husband tends to breathe out through his mouth while sleeping, so we thought a FFM would be necessary. However, that may well be related to his struggling to breathe during apneas (moderate). Nasal congestion is not a big issue for him.

Re: newbie with Amara View mask

I'll scan the instruction manual for the mask tonight or tomorrow. It is pretty comfortable, just frustrating when the pressure spikes and leaks wakes me up. I will try elevating the starting pressure to 7 as suggested. Possibly the "no leak" strap might help, but I am a bit wary about potentially c...

Re: newbie with Amara View mask

Here's the Phillips Amara View mask. It won't hurt the bridge of your nose, but leakage is an issue for me.

Re: newbie with Amara View mask

I have unilateral nasal congestion when lying down which puts me into the "sometimes mouth breather" category. I like to fall asleep on my side, but often roll onto my back and start snoring. The Amara View "just arrived" according to my DME (which probably should have been a red flag). It was fitte...

newbie with Amara View mask

Hi folks, Thanks for all the great information that you folks have available!. I have read through some of the stickies and recent threads. My husband and I just started with CPAP last Friday. While he is yet to fall asleep at all using his mask, I have been using mine every night. However, I appear...
