Thanks, I'll try upping the pressure.
Also, would adding the "assistance" that lowers pressure when I breathe out somewhat simulate BiPap action?

Confused -OA better, CA and H worse?
Hey-
Not sure why, but it seems my OA is down to a nice low 2, but, the other readings are taking over? My machine shows an AHI over 14! Is this worse, better, or, what?

Re: Increased hypopnea, decreased OA?
I'll try the 14-18 settings first and see if that works better for me. Then I'll see if lowering the max makes any difference.

Re: Increased hypopnea, decreased OA?
I hear ya. i do think the S9 is designed way better, especially the humidifier tray/cup. The Respironics one is clunky and hard to clean. Since I used it EVERY DAY, better design is key.

Re: Increased hypopnea, decreased OA?
Thanks for the advice. I duplicated the settings I was using on my old machine. I noticed the higher AHI numbers on the old machine, and read that the S9 gets to higher/max pressure faster as far as algorithms go. So I bought the S9. I'll up the min to 14 and max to 20, and see if that improves the ...

Increased hypopnea, decreased OA?
Hi- My AHI numbers have been going up past 11 recently. I bought a Resmed S9 to replace my older Respironics One machine, and I've noticed the obstructive apnea is going down, but the hyponea numbers are getting higher (8 hours HY vs 1.6 OA). What would cause that, and, is it better to have higher H...

Re: Limited success using CPAP/APAP
Makes sense to me to see if the 4.0 AHI @ min 13 - changes to 2.0 AHI at min 14. It's not increasing the dosage of a dangerous blood thinner - we're talking a little more air!

Re: CPAP and coughing
I had a bad cough when I first got my CPAP machine. I coughed so hard, it blew the foam filter off! Good times.

Re: Limited success using CPAP/APAP
I wonder if my machine is set up correctly? There is a lot of exhaust through my mask vent holes. Is there a way to know?

Re: Limited success using CPAP/APAP
Interesting! Not sure if my machine isn't working correctly, or, maybe it's normal and my pressure needs an increase. That's why my doctor said he wasn't a fan of the AUTO setting I guess. Not instant response, and it goes up and down based on previous events, etc? I'll try bumping it up to min 13, ...

Re: Limited success using CPAP/APAP
Here is last nights chart after putting the relevant graphs at the top, and using IMGUR... My Doctor wanted to do a sleep study at his sleep lab - he was setting it up and was going to get back to me after the insurance approved it. I never heard from him again, so I assume my insurance wouldn't go ...

Re: Limited success using CPAP/APAP
This may seem out of left field, but have you tried a soft cervical collar to keep your head off your chest, airway more open and mouth more closed? I use a full face mask and breath through my mouth a lot, and a low pillow, so my head is never on my chest. Thanks for the idea though. Here's anothe...
