Re: Backpacking and CPAP Machines - what's the answer?
After reading your reply and then mine again, I'm not really sure what I was thinking. Apparently I wasn't at all. You said you get two nights with your S9 on a full charge? Then you have your solor panels if you needed more? Living up in Washington state, I'd worry I wouldn't be able to get enough...

Re: Backpacking and CPAP Machines - what's the answer?
That is not a 24 volt converter - it's a 12volt cig adapter to 2.5mm barrel connector - which is what I made. I wonder if you pasted the wrong link? I wasn't totally sure what size the barrel connector was at the time, so I took the battery to a local electronics shop and they said it was 2.5mm. I w...

Re: Backpacking, Hiking and Camping - the PowerAdd Pilot Pro
I've had that happen before. It's almost like the battery takes too much load at once and cuts off the power. Try unplugging it and plugging it back in. I sometimes have to do that a few times and it will eventually work.
I hope you get it working!

Re: Backpacking, Hiking and Camping - the PowerAdd Pilot Pro
There are instructions online that tell you how to make your own. They are not clear and even I (who is familiar with electronics, cable splicing, etc) managed to fry my Resmed S8 trying to make one. The big issue is figuring out the polarity. When I got my S9, I ponied up the $$$ for the adapter. O...

Re: Backpacking, Hiking and Camping - the PowerAdd Pilot Pro
I read the instructions with amusement If you like that sort of thing, check out chinglish.com. You were doing it right, lay out the solar panel towards the sun and use the dc barrel connector cable to go from the charger into the input of your battery. Be advised that if you also plug in a usb cabl...

Re: Backpacking, Hiking and Camping - the PowerAdd Pilot Pro
Hey flyswatta, I ordered that solar charger panel today. Going kayaking over Mother's Day weekend, but it probably won't get to me in time for the trip. Not a problem for that trip, as it will be a 2 nighter, so plenty of power from the battery. Over Memorial Day weekend I'll be doing a 3 night raf...

Re: Backpacking, Hiking and Camping - the PowerAdd Pilot Pro
It's all about what's best for you. I used a jump starter for 2+ years when camping. I tried the inverter but couldn't get through one night. I bought the dc adapter and could get through two nights with solar charging during the day (never tried it for two days without charging). I liked that it wa...

Re: CPAP expected life span
You may want to check out this thread - http://www.cpaptalk.com/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=103170&st=0&sk=t&sd=a&hilit=hiking+cpap The OP in that thread hooked up an S8 to a portable battery that's about the size of a kindle fire. I bought one for $120 and use it with my S9 for camping. Previously I used a...

Re: Backpacking, Hiking and Camping - the PowerAdd Pilot Pro
You hit the nail on the head about multi-day trips. The idea is that I can make it two days on the battery so hopefully I can charge up enough for one night every day, then if not, then by day two i can hopefully charge up. So far I've made it through two, week long trips on my old setup using this ...

Re: Backpacking, Hiking and Camping - the PowerAdd Pilot Pro
The 18v is the input charge and it's not selectable. You are thinking of the output charge, which you don't change for charging. I believe it's hot from being in the sun since it really didn't get too hot on previous test runs. I had just slid the battery under the panels, this time I'll use a stick...

Re: Backpacking, Hiking and Camping - the PowerAdd Pilot Pro
So we had a great time for our campout! I only slept about 5 hours the first night and my pilot pro was at 69% when I woke up. I was busy in the morning, but put it out at around noon. Here are the numbers. 12:15 start. 69% 1:19 79% 2:50 83% 4:00 88% Soooo, a couple of things. It was a high of 86°F ...

Re: Backpacking, Hiking and Camping - the PowerAdd Pilot Pro
The solar panel arrived a couple of weeks ago. My initial test was good, I started charging at 79% on the PowerPro battery at 11:49am, then by 2:00 it was at 95%. I left for about 2.5 hours and it was at 100% when I got back. I think this thing is gonna work great. I'm going camping this weekend so ...

Re: Backpacking, Hiking and Camping - the PowerAdd Pilot Pro
Awesome! I forgot to mention that I went camping two weeks ago. The Poweradd worked great for two nights - a 6 hour night and a 10 hour night and I was at 14%. I ordered the AllPowers 28 watt portable solar panels and will try them out in two weeks at my next camp out. For a test, it charged the Pow...

Re: Backpacking and CPAP Machines - what's the answer?
I posted this in another thread, but thought it was also pertinent here. I received the PowerAdd Pro 32000. I bought a wired 2.5mm barrel connector for the dc out at a local electronics shop and spliced it into a female cigarette lighter adapter that I already had. Total cost was $3.26. There's one ...

I decided on the PowerAdd Pro 32000. I bought a wired 2.5mm barrel connector for the dc out at a local electronics shop and spliced it into a female cigarette lighter adapter that I already had. Total cost was $3.26. There's one on amazon for around $10. The set up is: PowerAdd Pro 32000 --> fabrica...
